Truthiness. This all sounded good to you when you made it up? |
It’s common sense to declare a state of emergency to obtain more state and federal funds. This is America, 21st century. |
It’s why enclaves and sanctuary cities exist. The ecosystem is the most supportive. Illegals don’t come here to go set up shop in a new state and city. They go stuff in their friends house for a few years. |
“Common sense” is not the same thing as an objective fact. |
Known as the guarantee clause, Article IV, Section 4 of the Constitution states, “The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them from Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic violence.” Therefore, governors, attorneys general, and state legislatures must take emergency measures–beyond the scope of what has been attempted to this point–to follow through on the primary function of government: protecting its citizens. The Constitution provides states an appropriate “self-help” remedy under Article I, Section 10, Clause 3, which stipulates that, “No State shall, without the Consent of Congress, lay any Duty of Tonnage, keep Troops, or Ships of War in time of Peace, enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State, or with a foreign Power, or engage in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit delay.” There can be no disputing that the influx of well over 1.3 million illegal immigrants this calendar year alone and thousands of pounds of fentanyl and other deadly narcotics, facilitated by the widespread human trafficking efforts of violent international drug cartels, constitutes an invasion of the southern border of the United States. These cartels effectively have operational control over vast swaths of the southern border. |
Malarkey. The term invasion was not understood to mean mass migration in 1787. It was understood to mean a hostile military force. Nice try. And most importation of fentanyl (with scare quotes) occurs at border crossings and involved arrests of US nationals. |
It’s both for Use of Emergency Funds. Get yo’ money! |
Ha! I agree with pp. The crisis at the border definitely fits the term "invasion." And, you know......this administration has taken "liberties" on all kinds of laws not intended to be interpreted as this administration interprets them. The forgiveness of student loans comes to mind...... |
This "human trafficking" nonsense is so absurd. Here's the actual definition: Human trafficking, also known as trafficking in persons, is a crime that involves compelling or coercing a person to provide labor or services, or to engage in commercial sex acts. The coercion can be subtle or overt, physical or psychological. Exploitation of a minor for commercial sex is human trafficking, regardless of whether any form of force, fraud, or coercion was used. https://www.justice.gov/humantrafficking/what-is-human-trafficking The transport of migrants to MV does not fit this definition, genius. No one was compelled or coerced into providing any kind of labor, service, or sex acts. But do go on. As for CA, MD, and NY - what do all three have in common? Hmmm. Think think think... could it be sanctuary cities?
|
Once again: NYC is a sanctuary city. That's entirely on them. Maybe start voting a different way if they're unhappy about it. |
Yep. And if they don't, perhaps they need to rethink who and what they vote for (over and over again). DP |
invasion: an incursion by a large number of people or things into a place or sphere of activity. Sorry, millions here is an invasion. |
Oh I see you favor the Scalia-Alito originalist activism of pulling crap out of your own a**. |
Biden's been flying and bussing illegals to NY for many months. |
|
The border towns around the Rio Grande Valley had severe doctor shortages prior to Biden opening the gates to millions walking over the border.
No way can these small towns handle services for illegal immigrants nor should they be expected to. |
