NYC mayor declares 'emergency' due to migrants

Anonymous
Good to see taxpayers blowing $1B on foreign nationals here illegally or under completely flimsy 'asylum' claims that are used to game our system

https://www.yahoo.com/news/york-mayor-adams-declares-state-150422558.html

Imagine what $1B would do to improve schools for our actual citizens paying taxes or for historically marginalized communities full of our citizens that could use one billion in business investment in their communities. 20% of all housing in NY is taken by migrants and the percentage keeps growing. That's 20% less housing for homeless American citizens on the streets of NY. Completely outrageous.

Oh look who woke up.

Wait, I thought that blue states had no immigrants, at least according to all the wing nuts who were so excited at DeSantis and Abbott trafficking people.

NYC is a sanctuary city. I don’t understand how this could be an emergency.

because a bunch were dumped on them by another state who had no authority to do that. Those governors lied to the people and were basically human traffickers for a political stunt.

Even if we had that 20% for "ourselves" Rs would make sure we didn't use it for the homeless. They don't care about homeless people, so please stop gaslighting.

I believe in border control, but your post is disingenuous.

You do realize that a good number of those migrants were sent to NY by the DEMOCRATIC mayor of El Paso?

And, the Biden administration is also sending migrants to NY.

But weren’t those unlawful immigrants dumped in those other states by a federal govt that isn’t enforcing security at the border because doing so is unpopular with the political class in those states now doing the complaining?

So you think small, under resourced towns in rural Texas should absorb the massive costs of dealing with a huge influx of people who shouldn’t be here, but draw the line when a few hundred show up in NYC?

Seriously- how do you defend that?

Not a problem. I'm sure the border states are getting some federal money to handle migrants. Time to redistribute that money and make sure that any state that gets migrants shipped to it gets a chunk of that pie.

The Biden admin. gives the NGOs that work with them lots of our tax payer money to support these migrants.
It is happening in cities all over our country.

This is rich.
He runs on proclaiming his city a "sanctuary city" then responds like this.

Get on the phone, Adams. Call Biden. Tell him to shut down the damn border.

I'm not defending anything, but last I checked TX, FL, and NY are part of the US, and the federal government has the authority to deal with illegal immigrants, not a governor who is looking to score political points and looking to run for POTUS in two years.

Also, Desantis had ZERO authority to ship illegal immigrants from TX, a state he has ZERO jurisdiction in. So again, he's basically a human trafficker. We should put him in prison.

Great! Seems like the human trafficking states need a little less money, seeing as how they are sharing the pain.

Yes, the federal government has the authority.... but when the federal government shirks that authority, the states most heavily impacted need to take action.

And, are you equally as outraged about the mayor of El Paso (D) busing migrants to NYC?

DeSantis should be awarded a medal for what he did. The Democrats are FINALLY talking about the crisis at the border. That is a miracle.

No it’s not up to the states. Sorry not how it works. When Texas leaves can you join them?
