So you think small, under resourced towns in rural Texas should absorb the massive costs of dealing with a huge influx of people who shouldn’t be here, but draw the line when a few hundred show up in NYC?

I'm not defending anything, but last I checked TX, FL, and NY are part of the US, and the federal government has the authority to deal with illegal immigrants, not a governor who is looking to score political points and looking to run for POTUS in two years.

Also, Desantis had ZERO authority to ship illegal immigrants from TX, a state he has ZERO jurisdiction in.  So again, he's basically a human trafficker.  We should put him in prison.[/quote]

Yes, the federal government has the authority.... but when the federal government shirks that authority, the states most heavily impacted need to take action.

I agree with pp.  The crisis at the border definitely fits the term "invasion."

And, you know......this administration has taken "liberties" on all kinds of laws not intended to be interpreted as this administration interprets them.  The forgiveness of student loans comes to mind......
