Anyone else reading this thread to diffuse excited energy waiting for tomorrow night? The only feedback dd got at auditions was, “Well, you’re short enough.” Nice to share the experience with you all.

Yup! Yearly my DD tells me "I am too tall!"

Last Nutcracker there was an email sent after the audition that due to the reduced roles, more students would not be cast than usual. I kept it from DD until the morning of casting day and I'm glad. She was besides herself all day long, couldn't have imagined days of that.

I told DD when that email came out last year, only in hopes that it would temper her expectations and hopefully make her jsut happy with any part, rather than being disappointed with her part.

They are, its just that they need short kids for certain roles. For example, my kid who is literally off the growth chart for her age, will never be cast as "littlest clown" shes never the smallest in a group. Same thing, kids in the party scene need to look like kids compared to the company dancers. And they use the same costumes year to year, gotta fit the costumes to dress the role

So... The "good" roles go to short students.

I feel like the tall 4As might get some preference for Frontier Girls, which I think is a pretty cool role

As the mom of a tall 4A, I hope thats the case! She would LOVE to be a clown, but might just be too tall for the role, but would LOVE a frontier girl spot!

This is all speculative, except for maybe Baby Clown that will also cast a dancer that's a skilled gymnast. There are deliberately girls of all heights in all the roles.

I know this is often said but my consistently tiny dancer has not reaped any special benefits (read: coveted roles) in the TWSB Nutcracker to date

Oh I know! It's all part of the fun.

Will it be obvious in the parent portal when roles are posted? Is it under My Students? If they aren’t cast, is it just blank? First-time caller, here.
