That he uses time well? Why wouldn’t this be a good time for a vacation?

No, not when there is an election. And if he really cares or knows about MoCo politics and elections, he should have known or anticipated that the election result would drag out to several days or week(s).

You only served to show why it is a good time for him to go on vacation.

No, it shows that he should have stayed in the county until all the votes are counted and announced.
Move the vacation (which he should have anticipated in an election year) because he can afford it.
Bad optics and bad impression.

It's not as bad a a Ted Cruz move, but nothing says "I'm committed" to helping the county as much as going out of the country during the election.

The election already happened. It is just counting now, and he has nothing to do with the counting. This criticism is just beyond bizarre.

This random “journalistic” attempt at a gotcha against David Blair is why many of us tune out much of their blather.

I’m leadership, optics matter. A leader “surveying” storm damage in person or going to the scene of a shooting to meet the victims family has zero practical value. And yet it is very important. It’s interesting that Blair cannot see this nor the people knee jerk defending him here who are probably paid by the campaign.

In summary, it’s a bad look and he knows it.

Signed,

Blair voter

Elrich took a vacation in April. Was that also a bad look?

No. But it would be a really bad look if he took one right now or between now and the Nov election.

Why? What should Blair be accomplishing right now? He isn’t the current exec, so it’s not like he is taking time from the job. (Perhaps it would look worse if Elrich did it because he currently is in the job? Eh… I still wouldn’t care.) If you’re upset about this, then I suspect you’ll be upset by anything Blair does.

Upset? No. It's just weird.

It is not at all weird to take a vacation at the end of July right after a long, stressful period. You people who keep harping on this are what’s weird.

Why does Elrich get a pass for taking a vacation during the actual campaign?

The levels of defensiveness are all anyone needs to know whether this vacation was a good idea or not.

The vacation issue is ridiculous, folks. Lord, that's why this county is in so much trouble.

Truly. Totally bad look for Elrich to go on that April vacation. That’s why I didn’t vote for him.

I’m confused…
People telling you it isn’t a big deal somehow makes it a big deal?

By that logic, no one should defend anything, lest you be labeled as being defensive. If you don't speak up, then it's tacit agreement of fault. Got it.

As you can see, no one is defending Elrichs vacation.

Can you imagine how much further ahead he’d be if he didn’t go on vacation?

Nobody cares about Elrich's vacation, which is why no one should care about Blair's. I don't care who goes where, as long as they improve the county's economy.

That’s because Elrich prefers to vacation in Nicaragua or Cuba.
