They have gone through a fraction of the mail-in votes but have not posted results. However, a once-optimistic Elrich appears to have changed his outlook. The logic was that Elrich was under the impression that mail-in votes would be heavily in his favor because they might have been turned in at the time when he had led significantly in the polls. However, he found that a great deal of them had been in fact turned in at drop boxes around early voting, and would therefore more likely reflect trends in early votes that favored Blair. I think Blair might have it.
Well they just updated for the night and while Blair is still ahead, Elrich had more mail in votes.
Oh wow. Elrich closing the gap by a lot. Mail in votes are trending in his favor. Wow. But this is just one batch. Maybe he is half right. One batch of mail votes will be for Elrich, probably old people who are worried about the pandemic and voted by mail right away. The next batch will be for Blair, those who turned in closer to Election Day. And then there will be provisionals, people who switched parties to vote for Blair/against Elrich. My guess is Blair wins by 1%. Still… WTF MoCo. I don’t understand how it isn’t 60% Blair, 20% Riemer and <20% Elrich. One would think Elrich’s base is a dying breed, old hippie socialists and young delusional leftists who have hopefully grown up.
