It's right across the street from Rock Creek Park. Doesn't meet your walkability requirement in terms of getting to stores, but otherwise a great neighborhood for walking.

Wow - that’s gorgeous! We love old homes. And love all of the trees.

It’s zoned for MacFarland MS? Have you heard how well they handle IEPs?

I haven't heard much about MacFarland because it was closed when my kids were in middle school. For the next school year, the neighborhood is still grandfathered into Deal. Deal has a mixed reputation for handling IEPs but overall I have heard good things.

Thanks. We would be the following school year at the earliest. You generally like the neighborhood?

Not too many weirdos trashing AU Park?

Bethesda to SS is only one piece of the line. It's supposed to go all the way to New Carrollton.

Yes, that's right. That 16-mile trip will take at least one hour based on the 15 mph average speed. And delightfully, given that the purple line will disrupt intersections already in place (for example, all cars having to come to a stop to let trains through), even people in their cars will be forced to have longer commutes just by virtue of the purple line's existence.

Lol, this is true on so many levels. Basically all of upper NW is like this.

All of DC is like this. It is what it is but urban it ain’t.

Why is this a bad thing? In upper NW you get some of the benefits of suburban life (quiet, family-friendly, SFHs, green space) and you're still close to DC offices, museums, restaurants, etc. Lots of people actually want something between a Manhattan high-rise and an exurban McMansion

I wrote the previous post and completely agree with you. However, there seems to be a bunch of urban warrior wantabees here who try to make a big deal about how NW is not really urban. I think they look silly and think they pursue distinctions where differences are not really there. DC is what it is and I am ok with that as well.

Yes, I think it's a nice thing about DC (and other smaller cities)

Just one sideways post. As an LGBTQ person who lives in Virginia and most of my friends here are Dems/progressives (I’m actually one of the more moderate ones) I urge you to stay and continue to make your voice known as long as you can. If the state does go over the edge with no hope of recovery, I’ll probably move too, but I given population trends I don’t think we’re there. Good luck.
