It’s either great news or a total nightmare, depending how much freedom you value, particularly as the housing stock is old - if you go by “hell is other people”, Somerset is not a paradise.

The Town Council requires homeowners to present plans for tear-downs and other major renovations to the council, and encourages neighbors to weigh in on the plans. Additionally, before making any major change to a house, the owners must give notice to all neighbors, and get neighbors to sign that notice.
“It opens a dialogue early in the process, and I think it creates some peer pressure to make design decisions that won’t jeopardize their entree into the town,” Slavin said. “People don’t want their new neighbors mad at them before they even move in.”

Not Cleveland Park. The sorry state of the commercial area reflects the decline of the neighborhood, even if there are still many nice houses there if you have the $ for them.

Well the planes don’t fly all the time and maybe the far south edge of Sumner is close to the flight path. But it’s not noticeable and clearly you don’t live there to have an opinion. But thanks for chiming in. Please stick to where you live for posts in the future.

Pollution from the planes? Or roads?

We don’t mind planes/jets/helicopters at all. I’m sure none of these areas are louder than our current home. -op

Mkay. Anyway…

Before we decided not to bother w the commute, we looked at Sumner. Planes were going every 2 mins and very low and loud. Also realized that the area is a bit choked off in terms of roads into DC. The former killed it even if the latter would have been navigable

No, East Bethesda has been around since the ‘30s. It is the neighborhood adjacent to BCC. It borders Columbia Country Club, East West Highway, Wisconsin Ave and Jones Bridge Road. 1500 homes ranging from @ $750k to $3M, with most between $1M to $1.5M.
