If so, they will get in somewhere. It's not the only good school after all.

What extra materials can she provide since she is deferred to boost any chances of getting in?

Any sports or music?

Does MIT look for ECA's such as sports or music?

yes - and MIT practices holistic admissions.

The history here - MIT had a ton of suicide issues. They don't like students that aren't well rounded. A bunch of my friends and I pulled our E3 admissions cards from MIT to see what they said. All of us were academically accomplished. What did the cards highlight?

I won local contests in a pagent and classic car show.
My one friend was a cheerleader and that was highlighted on her card
Another friend was a gymnast
Another was an accomplished musician

None of the cards mentioned our academics. Academics got us to the table.

You don't know sh*t about elite college admissions. They don't look for the so-called "well-rounded", but mediocre bigots like you. They favor people with "spikes", other things being equal. And no, there is ZERO chance MIT gonna highlight cheerleader for the admission decision because it's a dime a dozen.

Lolz

A cheerleader with a perfect GPA and SAT taking all APs is not “a dime a dozen” and this is why people like that get into top schools

Are you suggesting super smart girls aren't also great athletes/gymnasts/dancers?

MIT has 1200 spots. 41% of the undergraduate population is of Asian descent. https://mitadmissions.org/apply/process/profile/

MIT is also 53% male. Asian males are not being passed over. 15,000 EA applicants--How many were high-performing Asian males? Certainly a significant amount.

Do the math--even if MIT accepted 1200 Asian males, how many would be rejected? The majority. You have a population of students competing with themselves and limited spots--that is the issue.

It is not only Asian makes; even males of South Asian origin. My DS from IB/ Magnet school 4.0 UW, 4.78 W, SAT 1600, 8AP's all 5's, plays an Indian instrument and has performed at many events, actively volunteers in a non profit with leadership position, did science research past 2 summers at a prestigious federal institution in MCPS county. Was deferred!

Can someone post stats of kids accepted? Would help to prepare for RD rounds?

My DS is interested in the Sloan school, any DC accepted there?

I'm literally telling you what was on our admissions cards for MIT. We were all MIT undergraduates. I had 4 friends that were cheerleaders from various states - CA, TX, PA, GA and all had perfect grades, high SAT scores, etc.

They are not getting passed over. It’s basically a lottery. There are more than enough qualified applicants, so it’s in some ways a lottery among them. The stats will show there is more than statistical representation of Asian males.

If I were a troll, why would I know an obscure term like an E3 card? http://tech.mit.edu/V124/N47/47e3.47n.html

The MIT Admissions Office is probably trying to filter out those who can't spot sarcasm.

See the post above yours. Out of 15,000 EA applicants, many/most have a similar resume. Even if they took 1200 similar to your kid, they are rejecting or deferring thousands of the same caliber. It is not a reflection of your kid.
