So are there no chances for a DS to get into prestigious school like MIT if their interests and stats are aligned very highly to such a school? Any DS who actually was accepted this year EA?

All of them? That’s a strikingly broad statement with little respect for the differences that make each person interesting, regardless of their race.

White male and Chinese male are getting cock blocked

No they’re not but keep peddling your victim hood. It’s a good look.

My DS from IB/ Magnet school 4.0 UW, 4.78 W, SAT 1600, 8AP's all 5's, plays an Indian instrument and has performed at many events, actively volunteers in a non profit with leadership position, did science research past 2 summers at a prestigious federal institution in MCPS county. Was deferred!

See the post above yours. Out of 15,000 EA applicants, many/most have a similar resume. Even if they took 1200 similar to your kid, they are rejecting or deferring thousands of the same caliber. It is not a reflection of your kid.

+1 look at the posts of deferred/denied kids on this thread. They are the same: stats, gender, awards, etc. At least two are Coca Cola finalists! Admissions is looking at a big pile a duplicates. And most likely, all majoring in CS or engineering.

Oh that doesn’t reinforce the perception that you’re all whiny, entitled brats. Not at all.

DC is a junior in FCPS school, has been participating and winning science fair competitions past 3 years, has a non profit started during COVID for a unique cause, does math tutoring outside school, perfect GPA and SAT. What can he do to improve his chances for MIT acceptance?

What extra materials can she provide since she is deferred to boost any chances of getting in?

Any sports or music?

Does MIT look for ECA's such as sports or music?

yes - and MIT practices holistic admissions.

The history here - MIT had a ton of suicide issues. They don't like students that aren't well rounded. A bunch of my friends and I pulled our E3 admissions cards from MIT to see what they said. All of us were academically accomplished. What did the cards highlight?

I won local contests in a pagent and classic car show.
My one friend was a cheerleader and that was highlighted on her card
Another friend was a gymnast
Another was an accomplished musician

None of the cards mentioned our academics. Academics got us to the table.

You don't know sh*t about elite college admissions. They don't look for the so-called "well-rounded", but mediocre bigots like you. They favor people with "spikes", other things being equal. And no, there is ZERO chance MIT gonna highlight cheerleader for the admission decision because it's a dime a dozen.

I'm literally telling you what was on our admissions cards for MIT. We were all MIT undergraduates. I had 4 friends that were cheerleaders from various states - CA, TX, PA, GA and all had perfect grades, high SAT scores, etc.

This is definitely a troll

If I were a troll, why would I know an obscure term like an E3 card? http://tech.mit.edu/V124/N47/47e3.47n.html

NP and also MIT alum. Do not think above poster is making anything up as I remember a discussion about E3 cards my freshman year due to some changes around it (and that stuff is super inside baseball, I doubt even the majority of MIT students know about it). To be fair, the stuff you describe on your E3 must have been a while ago, so what is considered interesting and unique enough to “bump” an app has probably changed since then. The stuff about the suicides rings true too, unfortunately. I would guess you are getting attacked so grossly by other PPs because while you are trying to help by providing more info, they don’t know what to do with that info, it doesn’t help their children, etc. so psychologically, the easiest way to deal with that is just completely reject it and call you a liar.

This is not a troll. My DC suburban public had 4 acceptances in a certain late 80s year. One was indeed a cheerleader.

I do alumni interviewing for an Ivy. My only interviewee who got in last year was a cheerleader.
