Because trans men can also have babies. So by insisting that only women have babies, you’re telling trans men that they … don’t exist? I don’t even know. But that’s the concept. |
I know you're going to call me anti trans, but I have to ask. If a trans man is a man, why would he gestate and birth a baby? Stories like these make it difficult to distinguish between genuine feeling of being born in the wrong body (and then surgically and hormonally correcting that) and straight up mental illness. |
Why is that any of your business? And how does it at all harm you to be inclusive. But ok, I’ll play. Let’s say a trans man gets sexually assaulted and ends up pregnant. Do they have to get an abortion in order for you to be willing to keep calling them a man? This is really not hard and thankfully the younger generations seem to have figured this out with almost no drama. Chappelle is a bigot. Breaking news: you can be black and still be a bigot. |
| A trans man is a biological woman so why can’t we call people who get pregnant women? The misogyny is so gross. |
….. because that person identifies as a man. What’s gross is bigotry. |
The whole thing is nuts. We are supposed to be neutral and not at all confused by the befuddling array of gender identities and not scratch our heads at a trans man who births a baby (but rape!). Seriously! You're asking a lot. |
And yet somehow most kids I know deal with this really easily. So it really isn’t that hard. You are just making it really hard. —parent of a trans kid |
I would call them he/him and treat them with kindness as I do everyone else. Acknowledging that someone is a biological female is not bigoted. Denying that fact when they are carrying a child is insanity. The doctor should refer to them however they want, but if you want people to buy into them being “100%” male, then the doctor would give him zero prenatal care and have him put in a mental institution. |
Here's the harm of being "inclusive." Maternal mortality is a huge issue, higher rates in the US and linked to race. Also it's part of how women's health care is systemically undervalued and under-resourced compared to men. See studies on ER wait times and pain management, etc. Saying "pregnant people" removes that context to the care of pregnancy / childbirth / risks and puts it into a vacuum. |
No it doesn’t the #’s are negligible. |
