| School and living expenses |
If any |
| My mom paid for everything so I’d feel like a real dick if I didn’t do that for my own kids. |
| My parents paid for my graduate school and living expenses so I hope to do the same as it makes life so much easier. My husband didn't get any help after age 18. Huge difference in life. If you can afford it (we live under our means and save for it) why wouldn't you give your kids the best start you possibly can? |
|
My parents paid for my public high school (ie, room, board and taxes). After that it was scholarships and student loans for undergraduate and graduate.
So, nothing, basically. |
| Everything... Private grade school and HS. College and Grad school. Spoiled with love. Was taught right from wrong. There are consequences to your actions, good or bad. |
| Somehow we’re buying a 3rd set of braces. I told my ex we’re going back to the ortho that did her first 2 sets and asking for a refund. |
|
Grandpa pays books, tuition, dorms/housing, and meal plans.
The father and I pay for everything else. We generally give them a little more than they'd need each month when they're a freshman because we prefer they not work their freshman year of any new school. Then after that we give them a little LESS than they'd need each month - it's on them to get a part time job or cut back. |
| We paid for everything for their undergrad. Grad school they have paid for. We gave a little help here or there as needed, but the school expenses were theirs. |
|
Undergrad: We pay: tuition minus scholarships, room&board, books and school supplies, clothing, we start them off with a boatload of toiletries Child pay: pocket money and toiletry replacement during the year
Grad school: all on them. They are STEM majors and if they can’t find someone else to pay for it, they shouldn’t be there. Older child has recently graduated and will start an employer paid Master program soon. Younger child still in undergraduate school |
| We pay for everything undergrad. My son has a fellowship for grad school so he is self supporting. If my daughter wants a graduate degree that is not covered we will probably help her out with that. |
| They paid my cell phone bill? I made DC work living by myself and purchased a used car plus furniture on 30K per year stipend. |
|
When I was in college, my parents paid most of my tuition (I also had loans and scholarships), my books, and my plane tickets to and from home. They also bought me things like winter coats and boots, and clothing basics, and a computer. I had a work-study job to pay for all non-essential clothing and entertainment.
In grad school, they paid for plane tickets when I flew home. |
| My parents paid undergrad and grad school plus living expenses. |
| My SS just finished law school. He had a generous scholarship and a modest stipend. We provided grocery money and paid his cell phone bill. His mother paid his portion of the Internet/cable he shared with roommates. He paid his own car expenses once he started an internship, but he rode his bike or public transportation prior to that. |
