Suggestions for work-outs for someone who hasn’t worked out in awhile

Anonymous
If anyone has any suggestions for beginner work-outs on Netflix, Hulu, hbo, Verizon cable, Amazon Prime please pass them along. I plan on starting to walk outside or the treadmill but would like some other options as well.

Thanks

Peloton app. You can try it for free and it has a good variety (yoga, strength, stretching, cardio, running, walking). You can sort by length and difficulty. Once you find a teacher you like, it's easy to stay motivated.

I have been doing short YouTube workouts—Yoga with Adrienne, Cassie Ho (Blogilates) and Rebecca-Louise. Most are 10-15 minutes so I can do one in the morning, afternoon, and evening.

+1

There are 5-10 minute strength and yoga classes. Also classes that teach you how to complete the various moves/poses safely. The outdoor walks are great. So you can move at your pace and string together a series of 5-10 minute classes in different areas to build up your strength and get a good work out.

I like SarahBeth Yoga. I found her via YouTube, but think you can find her across platforms? Easy to follow and huge array of time/area specific/theme/fitness level. I’ve been doing 2-3 of her routines for two weeks. Started with 10 minute gentle stretches and would do 3 fifteen minute exercises.

I’m a treadmill devotee and sometimes runner. Never been athletic. Truly don’t love exercising, but found yoga to be an excellent supplement to help tone and strengthen and gain flexibility.

+1 love this app. I cycle, run, strength train, stretch, trying yoga, and even some meditation. Except for running, I’m a beginner and it really guides you at your level.

Are there any that are more of a guided program/schedule? I’m a true beginner (not OP) and don’t know how to string standalone videos together ( e.g., day one is abs, day two is arms, or whatever)

I like popsugar on YouTube. Lots of variety of levels to pick from.

I also would suggest Julian Michale’s 30 day shred DVD. It is worth the buy. I have had mine 10 yrs and still take it out from time to time. It is 20 min workouts done in 3 levels. They are hard but meant from everyone- it will challenge you if you haven’t work out in a long tome but it will take you from zero to feeling great in a months.

I have a lot of weight to lose, so low-impact cardio work-outS by Body Project on Youtube have been great for me.

There are some videos that are all standing/upright- it is often difficult to do the up and then down to the floor thing when you are a heavier beginner. YMMV
