The only comparison is a non-resident sense of entitlement to free stuff in DC, no matter the impact on actual residents here. That said, illegal parking is an inconvenience, but school residency fraud is a theft of thousands of dollars of services and may preclude some deserving DC kid from getting a slot at a school that he or she wants to attend.

The entitlement mentality in the DC metro area is just absurd. I've lived in LA, SF, and NYC for many years. But never have I seen a place where so many people feel they should have control of and be allowed to consume willy nilly other jurisdictions' services. It's insane.

I think it stems from the lack of leadership in Congress, where everyone comes to feed at the trough of the Federal Government. Those lobbyists in Potomac, the contractors, and Congressmen themselves are among the worst. It then trickles down even to the small-time DeeCee civic employees.

It's a disease that has infected the entire region.

You're thinking too much PP. Its the teeny footprint of DC sandwiched in-between two states of residents that have motivation to cheat (I'm being kind to PG where I think it mostly comes from) and the faulty moral equations that gentrification allows them to justify. I'm not sure what a contractor in Potomac has to do with it.

No, just Marion Barry.

This thread continues to make me think we moved to a city full of backwater idiots who love the Fountainhead and repetition. Do you think we can cajole them into another ten pages of posts about Marion Berry, the cheaters from PG, and entitlement? While they are also simultaneously outraged we don't recognize their entitlement to a good middle school, even if they bought a crappy loft on capitol hill that isn't zoned for a good middle school?

I think that will be easy.

Sorry, I had to post this Halloween costume here:

That's pretty funny. To complete the costume, she should sprint to get in front of the guy in the blue jacket (nearly colliding with him along the way) and then drive super slowly once she's out in front.

Oregon claims the marionberry. DC was stuck with Marion Barry.

This is hilarious. If the costume also had a DC government parking sticker, it would be totally spot on!

Wow. That pic is amazing.

Amazing that someone is that obsessed with the issue.

No doubt this costume will offend somebody -- the residency cheaters and grifters.

Amazing that you think it's ok to cheat.

I dont. And I don't cheat. I also don't stalk and harass other parents, because I assume they are government employees from pg who are cheating. And because I am not psycho.
