These idiots on this board who know everything are really clueless about the way this works. It’s a business and you have to play the game and get the best deal. I’ve heard many stories like the one you say. Most of these time they are told not to share because they are telling others a different story. Thanks for sharing your nieces experience.

I’m also aware of several players in one sport whose father bought his dc way onto national championship d1 teams. They didn’t play much, but they got a ring.

Does rev still have Champions Cup? Didn’t they lose it this year for next or did staff get that fixed for another year? It’s probably better for exposure if they play showcase and actually win a game. The group now is pretty weak. Getting beat 4-0 or 4-1 not productive. This also exposes Mid Atlantic as generally a poor conf.

1. Mid Atlantic South is a poor conference. Top to bottom. VRSC, NVA, and even Charlotte Independence.
2. VRSC did not "fix" any Champions Cup entree. They had the top finish last season of all the existing GA Clubs in Mid Atlantic South. New Clubs are not eligible. Stop gaslighting.
3. Currently Charlotte Independence is in 1st overall and will get Champions Cup next season. VRSC and SYC are only separated by a point currently for 2nd place. Still many games left. Nobody is going to "fix" that either. Top two get in. End of story. Doesn't matter if Pep Guardiola is the coach.
4. Regardless of who gets in, you will have age groups that still get beat badly at Champions Cup. Every Club outside of Tophat and similar have bad teams in certain age groups. Let's use NVA as an example for this year. The 08/07 would have done very well BUT, the 09s, 10s, and 11s may have gotten beat by double digits. Same can be said for almost every other Club in Mid Atlantic South except Charlotte Independence. At least two or three teams would not be competitive.

There are less than 15 commits for the class of ‘27 in the entire division. Take an away Charlotte Independence and there is only 8 commits. And of those 8, four of them are GKs.

Mid Atlantic South is awful. Who cares if you are 2nd, 4th or 10th. Your DD is likely playing D3 regardless. And no, it’s not getting any better anytime soon.

If you recall a few pages back, unless mod deleted it due to legal threats, it was ‘prophesied’ that VRSC and evergreen Sportsplex will be sold before the end of 2028. The question is, how much money is Jim willing to keep blowing on these buffoons masquerading as “coaches”?

He doesn’t care about how much he pays these guys because $150-200k is peanuts for 4or 5 admin positions when one team brings in. $88000. Some are closer to $125k for 3-4 teams. Lower level teams bring in $70k and pay $60. If the coach has 2-3 teams, it pays for itself. The margin is thinner for the entire sportsplex and adding in the losing LU teams which will weigh the club down over the few years.mmof there’s a recession, expect the club to be sold.

Jealousy isn’t the word. Extremely disappointed in what we invested in, yes. Bad decisions from an individual who walks around like he’s infallible. No accountability for very poor decisions. I do expect it to catch up with him though so I don’t really care.

So if your DD is one of the top GA players in the Division and has excellent grades to match (Out of State Scenario):

1. UMBC, Robert Morris, Elon or Similar; partial Scholarship probably 50% or less between Academic and Athletic
2. Rollins, Adelphi, or Hillsdale; partial Scholarship probably 75% or less between Academic and Athletic
3. WashU, Carnegie Mellon, Johns Hopkins; partial Academic Scholarship IF AVAILABLE likely around 33% or less

Which one do you want your Daughter to go for? Me? If DD was in this situation, I would probably try Richmond or VCU to stay in state. D1 without a doubt has it's advantages when it comes to student athletes.

If your DD is not a top player in the division, you are looking at only D2 and D3 schools, no Athletic Scholarships. Also, top Soccer D2s and D3s actually have talented rosters between recruiting and players transferring in that are not getting PT in D1. D3 schools like the ones mentioned above often get good transfers for players moving into their senior year so they can get the prestigious name on their diploma.

IMO, D2 and D3 is similar to GA. You have a few really good teams but their is a steep drop off after the top 25. Most GA players can find a home playing soccer in college outside of the top 25 in D2 or D3. The myth really begins when people think any USYS player can play D2 or D3 soccer. I think it is the same comparison with GA taken down a notch where most TOP USYS players can find homes at 2nd and 3rd tier D3 if they want. On the bubble starters and bench players in USYS are likely bound for Club Soccer in college if they continue playing.

University of Richmond is a private university. The cost is the same if you are from Virginia, or not from Virginia. If you want to "stay in Virginia," because you want to stay in Virginia then fine. However, that doesn't have a bearing on what it costs to go to University of Richmond.

DII universities do give athletic scholarship money.

You didn’t “invest” in anything, my friend. You paid for your kid to play soccer. That is not an investment any more than your vacation to the Bahamas was an investment. Do you demand accountability for years because the room at the Bahamas hotel was dirty? Unless you are part owner in the soccer club you are a customer not an investor.

Thanks Mark Twain. My apologies if my writing is not on your intellectual level. In fact, I did not know Richmond was private. Bad example. I don't care what kind of writer I am. I just know that GA is not the place to be if your DD has high soccer aspirations and they should perhaps lower expectations. Here is a fact - their are less than 5 2027 GA players in the DMV that I know of who did not play in the ECNL last season, who are currently committed to a D1 schools. Sorry if truth hurts. This is the reality of Mid Atlantic South GA. Get out while you can.
