No athletic scholarships at D3 schools, perhaps you meant full ride academic?

No such thing as a full ride at a D3. Academic scholarships are capped. Many of the top D3s do not even offer Academic Scholarships. All depends on endowments. D2 does have athletic and academic scholarships however their are not many Academic schools. Maybe 10 that are on par with George Mason, UMBC, etc. Even with academic and athletic in D2, still won't be a full ride.

The only full rides are your P4 schools and big football/basketball schools outside of P4. Many in P4 don't give full rides either. Anson Dorrance at UNC has always been quoted for saying he never gave any player a full scholarship during his entire tenure. New rules have changed things but DON'T BELIEVE ANYONE who says their DD has gotten a full ride at a mid-major or less D1. Have heard it many times but ends up being a lie to stroke the parents ego.

FYI, some public schools use a loop hole to save money and give better offers but it is controversial and looked down upon by others. While a player might be out of state, the University will give in state tuition rather than athletic scholarship. This amounts to a 50% or more cut in tuition. They can then add on Academic and Athletic scholarships to get very close to a full ride. I think private schools cannot use this practice which is why it is controversial and stacks the deck for state schools. I'm not 100% positive on privates though.

So if your DD is one of the top GA players in the Division and has excellent grades to match (Out of State Scenario):

1. UMBC, Robert Morris, Elon or Similar; partial Scholarship probably 50% or less between Academic and Athletic
2. Rollins, Adelphi, or Hillsdale; partial Scholarship probably 75% or less between Academic and Athletic
3. WashU, Carnegie Mellon, Johns Hopkins; partial Academic Scholarship IF AVAILABLE likely around 33% or less

Which one do you want your Daughter to go for? Me? If DD was in this situation, I would probably try Richmond or VCU to stay in state. D1 without a doubt has it's advantages when it comes to student athletes.

If your DD is not a top player in the division, you are looking at only D2 and D3 schools, no Athletic Scholarships. Also, top Soccer D2s and D3s actually have talented rosters between recruiting and players transferring in that are not getting PT in D1. D3 schools like the ones mentioned above often get good transfers for players moving into their senior year so they can get the prestigious name on their diploma.

IMO, D2 and D3 is similar to GA. You have a few really good teams but their is a steep drop off after the top 25. Most GA players can find a home playing soccer in college outside of the top 25 in D2 or D3. The myth really begins when people think any USYS player can play D2 or D3 soccer. I think it is the same comparison with GA taken down a notch where most TOP USYS players can find homes at 2nd and 3rd tier D3 if they want. On the bubble starters and bench players in USYS are likely bound for Club Soccer in college if they continue playing.

University of Richmond is a private university. The cost is the same if you are from Virginia, or not from Virginia. If you want to "stay in Virginia," because you want to stay in Virginia then fine. However, that doesn't have a bearing on what it costs to go to University of Richmond.

DII universities do give athletic scholarship money.

If you were trying to say something else, learn to express your thoughts better in written form. I'm sure you will take umbrage with being told your are a poor writer. However, your feelings do not mean it isn't true.

Thanks Mark Twain. My apologies if my writing is not on your intellectual level. In fact, I did not know Richmond was private. Bad example. I don't care what kind of writer I am. I just know that GA is not the place to be if your DD has high soccer aspirations and they should perhaps lower expectations. Here is a fact - their are less than 5 2027 GA players in the DMV that I know of who did not play in the ECNL last season, who are currently committed to a D1 schools. Sorry if truth hurts. This is the reality of Mid Atlantic South GA. Get out while you can.

Why are you tracking teenage GA players in the DMV? You are a weirdo. Sorry if the truth hurts.

Also, it's "*there* are less", not "their are less". You really are a bad writer.

Thanks again grammar police. Can only imagine what you are like at parties. I track because I am moving my DD out of GA. I think anyone with a chance of moving to ECNL should do the same if DD is interested in major schools. Otherwise they may end up with my poor writing skills.

Two fools arguing over grammar and slinging insults on a kids soccer thread. Idiots!

I’m late on this information: Virginia revolution pro (UPSL) is no longer a thing because they replaced it with the USL 2 team. Fact check me, but I believe that’s right.

Are rosters finalized? Would love to see the roster for that team and the USL W team. Do we think the younger talents are going to pick these teams over high school, an MLS NEXT, or their ECNL team?

The seasons for these teams (USL2 and USLW) are short and run in the summer when most of the roster is home from college. There are a few MLSN, ECNL players on these teams, but they are the exception rather than the norm. More likely, some of the "younger talents" will train with them and could be rostered for select games. This is from first hand experience with players I know that were in HS that participated in training and were rostered for both USL2 and USLW squads in the area. So, no need to pick.

Not Rev or Loudoun United.

What is going on here? From the outside it’s another revolving door and I see more than one is gone again. Gino and Michael and someone else? Would love inside facts please!

Then I see a new girls TD. So then I guess CC can focus on the USL W and his other teams?

Just asking questions, thanks .

Dan is another one. So that’s three coaches. Marvin is out of GA, so what will be his focus now?

Looks like 2 new TD's - a girls and a boys.

The girls TD was the GA director at TSJ/FCV until a few weeks ago lol

Bruh, someone has any idea what compels to hire the person whose previous club (TSJ) did like absolute horse manure in terms of game records and player development?

How’s this a win for VRSC????? Hahaha

I swear if I had to have a kid play soccer in this NoVa area I’d be abusing substances on the regular.

Parents forking out 4-5 thousand $$$$ per year before hotels and travels for this revolving door debauchery. If at least them “coaches” were serious stuff I’d stfu but frankly this is outright robbery by people who would be at poverty levels if it weren’t for this pay2play trash.

This announcement (and the previous 5-10 years here in dmv area) is a huge WTF

Yeah, I liked him too. He was fired at the beginning of the month. From what I saw with his teams, he was well liked by his players. I don’t remember when he started, but I think he’s been there for a bit and new leadership may be trying to clean up old NE coaching hires. Likely club culture differences between old and new. For whoever asked earlier, MJ will be handling a couple of the younger boys teams, but the coaching slate isn’t due to come out for a couple more weeks. Not sure where that leaves JJ, as she’s the walking definition of culture clash between old and new coaches at the club.

No idea if this will turn out to be a good hire, but you can’t put the recent results of TSJ directly on her shoulders alone. I don’t know when she got there, but all of the talent left two years ago. The players there now are mostly made up of 2nd team players from other clubs who wanted the opportunity to play at the GA level and going to a club under-going a massive talent departure was the fastest way to do it. Only time will tell, but hoping she makes a positive impact at Rev.

She was there less than a year, I believe. Not sure of her reasons for leaving after a year but kinda makes me wonder what her agenda is and why she didn't want to finish what she started there.

Maybe she’s leaving bc the Aspire rumors are true?
