I read above poster to say VHSL focus will be on the coach and school and not the kids, but kids will of course still feel the sting if cannot go to playoffs for 2 years. Sounds like all the band, dance and other seniors already stung by being shut out of recognition night.

Prediction if school 2 year post season ban not appealed: Overton will shop himself to a new school outside of FCPS for next fall. Kids will follow.

He’s not staying at Hayfield in the aftermath of a scandal. If this sticks, Overton is gone and so is the athletic director.

And where is the principal and athletic director in all this?!?! How have they not stepped up and made comments about this mess? I have seen the head coach and assistant coaches (and parents/community) all over social media defending their position. But no word from the principal and athletic director? Come on man! Be a leader!!

This is FCPS...

Can you link to the coaches social media posts about this?

So AC blames it all on one person. Wonder if they think it’s same mom that head Coach talked about on his Facebook?

It’s bigger than her, but they will make it look like her.

Hayfield team chaplain has a change.org petition currently signed by 1000 (no way to tell if kids, adults, double signatures or who is actually located in Hayfield community or even VA), but post here as between AC X post that they did everything right that told to do and petition, get idea of story will present today at appeal. From prior posts, chaplain’s church in Fredericksburg and kids were at Freedom and then Hayfield.

My question- do FCPS lawyers go to these to represent Hayfield?

https://www.change.org/p/save-hayfield-football?recruiter=753431335&recruited_by_id=2cc18310-7a3e-11e7-8f8e-a39c14681703&utm_source=share_petition&utm_campaign=psf_combo_share_initial&utm_term=take_next_step&utm_medium=facebook

If don’t want to click thru so doesn’t give petition more views, here some of the bolded parts copied from petition created by one of the Freedom parents:

“VHSL seems to be bending from outside pressure from individuals which has created negative news stories about the school and the head coach, Coach Darryl Overton, by spreading rumors and lies.

I created this petition to send to VHSL to show the Hayfield community's overwhelming support for our coaches, the Hayfield staff and our team AND to express our incredible anger over the potential post-season ban.

VHSL is stealing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for these young men.

Banning Hayfield Football from the State Playoffs would:

Shatter the dreams of dozens of young men who did nothing wrong.

Dissuade other top-notch coaches from coming to Virginia public schools, hurting the quality and competitiveness of Virginia football.

Create terrible optics for the state of Virginia - as the most diverse school in the DMV, a ban creates the appearance VHSL is trying to make the playoffs easier for less diverse schools.“

The petition starter is a Hayfield dad who was on the Overton hiring committee and has been all over social media inadvertently admitting to recruiting violations LOL.

There are clearly some joke posts ("We drove all the way from Woodbridge every day for this!").

Hayfield is not the "most diverse school in the DMV". What a weird thing to say.

Overton said, Hayfield has given the VHSL everything they asked for. This is interesting. Let’s see what happens later today.

Well what else would he say? "We frantically deleted texts and emails and SM posts"?

I find this post by a paid FCPS employee, an assistant coach, extremely creepy

The Devil Is a Liar ‼️ No Weapon Formed against Us Shall Prosper 🙏 We’ve done everything asked the right way , this is a sick person’s personal attack .
Anonymous
It's LAUGHABLE that they think the VHSL would launch a huge investigation based on just one disgruntled person (the whistleblower/former team mom seems to be who they suspect?).

Where did you see this quote from him talking about this scandal?

According to Niche, the go to authority on school rankings, Hayfield is the #1 most diverse school in the DMV. I think the entourage believes it helps the case against the VHSL.

Sorry if got wrong who started petition. It is on chaplain’s Facebook page from 2 days ago reading as her own. Since she calls herself a “public figure” on the page, link is:

https://m.facebook.com/klbd1/

Did read that VSHL looks at social media as part of its rulings and to support decisions so that may be what bites the former-Freedom folks if they can’t stop posting.

Having all these nutjobs associated with your team publicly posting does NOT help.

What makes a school the "most diverse"? That's so odd. There are many many schools with a lot more FARMs and ESOL kids.
Anonymous
Hayfield is one of the richest, whitest schools in its district. Certainly more "privileged" than Justice, Lewis, Falls Church, Edison, Annandale...
Anonymous
I wonder why four kids were found ineligible and could not play all season.

If schools are all or high majority FARMs and ESOL, that doesn't make it "diverse." It would be homogenous. A diverse school would have FARMs AND extremely wealthy people...and everything in between.

Yes. This is why Niche ranks Hayfield as the #1 most diverse school. It might be plurality (i.e. mostly) white, but it has a good representation of practically every other ethnic and socio-economic group.
