At least she recognizes how much she and the district are sucking with their current comms strategy.

I don't get that impression at all. All the evidence indicates they're trying to do a thoryough and fair investigation. Not sure where you are getting these ideas from.

They could have directly asked what McKnight knew about complaints against Biedleman when she promoted him. She would have said she couldn't answer and it would be clear she knew and is complicit in protecting him.

Really? I think if they had asked her that it would be clear she wasn't involved so please stop with the wild speculation and try to focus on the actual facts. Sure, I get your rabid about finding fault with MCPS but this is getting a bit crazy.

I love how the rabid pro mcps poster is keeping this thread alive...lol

I hope the rapid pro-MCPS poster is getting paid over time for this PR work on an anonymous message board. Although the posts are doing more harm than good, since seeing sycophants feel compelled to toe the party line like this and deliberately and repeatedly deny facts and evidence, tells you a whole lot about the kind organizational culture that’s festering within MCPS…

You mean like McKnight exhorting all admins at a district meeting to stand and chant “MCPS Proud” whether they wanted to or not? 😵‍💫

How do you know they didn't want it?

Spoke to several people who were present.

Hearsay, Your Honor!

So much juicy gossip in this thread though!! Sure, a lot of it is probably made up but it's fun reading all these wacky conspiracy theorieis.

Most of these posts were made by the same 2 bocce obsessed cranks, that start all these anti-mcps threads. Sure, it's unfortunate this went on during the previous administration's tenure but it will also help them avoid similar issues in the future.

Previous admin? McKnight resigned already!

No, these incidents happened before she was super. I get that facts are often inconvenient for your anti-MCPS crusade.

True but why let facts stand in the way of a good narrative?

A fact is something true. The statement "these incidents happened before she was super" is a bald-faced lie.

That they keep repeating, despite multiple corrections.

I know people keep repeating the lies. Everyone knows she wasn't super when this all went down. They just want to find fault with McKngith regardless of the facts.

This isn’t even smart trolling because MCPS itself has admitted that the promotion went down while McKnight was super. It seems like your only play is to confuse.

You're moving the goal posts. Last week you were blaming McKnight for these incidents that went on before her tenure. Now that someone has called you on it you just focus on the promotion. Got it.

Yes, they aren't even focused on Biedleman. Their goal is to discredit McKngiht so nothing else matters including the truth.

Agree there are a dozen people between McKnight and Biedleman who would've reviewed and recommended his promotion. McKnight is just going on what she's been told by those who are familiar with and responsible for these decisions, but of course, we want to blame her regardless of the reality. I also find it odd this thread focuses on the super from years after Biedleman harassed all these people.

So true but I don't think this sort of thing matters to many of these posters. They made up their mind long before this crisis.

I hope the BOE pushes back, although i would be surprised if they did. MCPS doesn’t need anymore “spin”. It doesn’t take that much money to tell the truth.

Anonymous wrote:A different example but as a MCPS teacher I appealed a student special education decision. I don't know how often staff does that, but I was appalled that my student had been unfairly denied services and I had the child's parents' blessing to appeal. The MCPS lawyer denied my appeal with no reason given. That decision was turned around so quickly I can't imagine they took it seriously, but there wasn't really anything else I could do at that point as neither the parents nor I had money to throw at an outside attorney. I believe MCPS makes the most expedient and least expensive decision every time, even if that means ignoring evidence or failing to do more than a cursory investigation. Just my two cents.

If this happened in the last 180 days, you or the parents can file a complaint with the US Department of Education Office of Civil Rights. If the family files, they could list you as a witness.

If this happened in the past two years, you or the parents can file a complaint with the Maryland State Department of Education. The parents should name you as a witness or a written letter from you as support.

If there was evidence that was not considered, then that would be a violation. Unfortunately, MCPS makes “mistakes” knowing that most families don’t know how or can’t afford to fight them. Their unethical practices have greatly grown in the last 10 years. Unfortunately, the lack of access has cost thousands of students each year an appropriate education which will have a lifelong impact for those students.

Like Biedleman, lawyers from Central Office - including those in Special Education positions and the General Counsel’s Office - come into IEP meetings without prior disclosure. This lack of transparency is so parents don’t have their own representation at the meeting.

Like Biedleman - it’s the MCPS culture that makes these types of tactics prolific without thinking about fairness and impact on the students. MCPS is not a school system that cares about students or its employees.

I should add, filing a complaint doesn’t take a lawyer. You fill out the paperwork, email documents, and the federal /state investigators will investigate.

I hope the BOE will recognize the optics and turn down her request. The problem is the leadership of Central Office, not spin control.

She probably cleared it with them first. I bet they bless it because they look terrible when she messes up. It won’t be enough tho. I think the reporters are just getting started.

DP. There were only three people between them. The associate superintendent, the chief of school support, and the deputy superintendent.

MCPS’s crisis is that they’re lying in the rare times they do talk about this.
