+1
The attack may never have occurred if the police had been allowed to act sooner.

It may never have occurred if Trump and his maga base weren’t so delusional, anti-democracy, and prone to inciting violence

Exactly.

The assault will give pause to all sorts of Democrats in Congress who think, if this could happen in a Democratic Speaker's home, then what could happen to any of us. You'll get Democrat representatives being less aggressive in Congress, Democrats less willing to run for Congress, Democrats less willing to volunteer for political campaigns, and Democrats less willing to vote.

The cost to political participation then for Democrats will be higher than for Republicans, who are far less likely to face any of these things. Yes, Steve Scalise says hi, but the one crazy person going after him is the exception that proves the rule.

What an idiotic post. Truly.
Look back over the past few years and just think for a minute.

Rand Paul. Lee Zeldin. Just recently - a staffer for Rubio.
Then, there is the aborted assassination on Kavanaugh.
Then of course, Steve Scalise and all the other Republicans who were targeted on the baseball field.
Tell us you didn't really think before you posted.

What happened to the white supremacist working for Rubio wasn’t political until Rubio tried to make it that way.

Not sure why people want the body cam released and I don’t personally want to watch an 82 year old guy get hit in the head with a hammer. In fact, I could see this video being a big joke when shown at a Kari Lake rally.

Uvalde was a situation where I did want to see the body cams. That’s because there were wildly varying stories as to what happened, and something unthinkable happened. Police were nearby for over an hour but no one approached the shooter who was in a room with little kids. Yeah, I wanted to see the body cams then. But again, not to see violence happen. Just to see what police were doing. Not the perp.

This is not a situation with varying descriptions of what happened from any of the 3 parties and it’s a big distraction of how horrific it was and how all sides should be loudly condemning this act.

The GOP wants the video so they can make content out of it - meme GIFs to laugh about on social media. Alex Jones to use the video in a conspiracy theory tirade.

These are today’s conservatives.

The story has shifted multiple times. That’s why people are asking. Between underwear, no underwear (and everyone agrees that Pelosi had every right to be in a state of undress since it was 2:30 AM and he was in bed prior), the 911 call, the police at the door and then Pelosi gets attacked, etc, and now the NBC story, it seems like everyone has a different account of what happened and when. And FWIW, I don’t believe the gay sex crap. The poor guy was a victim of some mentally ill lunatic that should have been off the streets years ago. Today’s conservatives are sick of being blamed for every little thing that goes wrong while leftists let lunatics loose without bail after violent crimes. That poor woman in NY and her kids paid a horrible price for those policies, as has every person accosted, raped, and violently attacked due to leftist idiocy.

You need to read a real newspaper. You are way behind. The original TV reporters made errors, as they always do, because they say things they think but don’t know and aren’t edited like print journalists. The charging documents corrected all that. Pelosi had on boxer shorts and a pajama shirt. Depape was fully-clothed, wearing shorts with pockets with zip-ties, etc. and carrying a backpack. He broke into the house. It’s on video. He assaulted Pelosi in front of the police. There is no dispute about anything except which direction Pelosi stepped after opening the door for the police. Republican gaslighters want you to believe that is a significant detail. It isn’t. They are just being a$$holes.

+1 the early reports of a story always have inaccuracies or things that don't nake sense. That's true even locally where a shooting might happen somewhere in my city and initially the report is x people shot of y approximate age at z location and then it gets corrected. But for the GOP, the automatic assumption is deep state coverup and once they latched on, the typical signs of a conspiracy theory evolve (moving goal posts to continue to deny in spit of new data means they'll never be satisfied... Their implied alternative story is unrealistic, would involve increasing numbers of multiple people lying to he point it's unrealistic, deep state cover-up, etc etc etc). It's sad.

Yes. If only “reporters” could discipline themselves to only report facts. Instead they need to be first and always get out ahead of their skis. When you combine that with some of the truly weird conspiracy theorists who gallop down tendentious rabbit holes, we all end up being poorly served.

Hi there, thanks for asking!

Paul learned David's name by David telling the dispatcher his name after the dispatcher asked him. It's all right here in this article! I hope your inquisitiveness is satisfied with this transcript from the recording!

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2022/11/04/paul-pelosi-attack-details/8258324001/

To defuse the situation, Paul Pelosi told the dispatcher that he did not need police, fire, or medical assistance. But Pelosi then asked for Capitol Police because they are usually at the house protecting his wife. The San Francisco police dispatcher, Heather Grives, said he called city police and Pelosi said he understood.

“I don’t know, what do you think?” Pelosi asked DePape. Another man was heard responding: “Everything’s good.”

“Uh, he thinks everything’s good,” Pelosi told Grives. “Uh, I’ve got a problem, but he thinks everything’s good.”

The dispatcher told Pelosi to call back if he changed his mind.

“No, no, no, this gentleman just uh came into the house uh and he wants to wait for my wife to come home,” Pelosi said.

The dispatcher asked if Pelosi knew the man and he said he didn’t. The dispatcher then asked for Pelosi’s name and address, which Pelosi gave him. DePape then told him to put the phone down.

The dispatcher asked for the man’s name and he replied, “My name is David.” When the dispatcher asked who David is, Paul Pelosi said he didn’t know.

“I’m a friend of theirs,” DePape said.

But Pelosi said again he didn’t know the man.

“No, he wants me to get the hell off the phone,” Pelosi said.

The dispatcher offered to stay on the line but sent police officers to the house when the intruder forced Pelosi to hang up. The dispatcher issued an “A” priority well-being check.

Was DePape in the bathroom with Pelosi? I assume not, since Pelosi was able to use the phone.

Why are people still asking inane questions about the incident? What bizarre scenario are you all imagining in place of the facts stated in the legal documents? Why won't this thread die already?!

Why don't you read the article and find out? Why don't you read the transcript of the 911 call, cited above? Why are you trying so very very hard to not believe the facts that are available to you?

When it looks like a conspiracy theorist and it talks like a conspiracy theorist. You are a textbook case, it's ok to seek help.

What are conspiracy theories? Why do they flourish?

1. What are they?
The belief that certain events or situations are secretly manipulated behind the scenes by powerful forces with negative intent.

2. Conspiracy theories have these 6 things in common
1. An alleged, secret plot.

2. A group of conspirators.

3. ‘Evidence’ that seems to support the conspiracy theory.

4. They falsely suggest that nothing happens by accident and that there are no coincidences; nothing is as it appears and everything is connected.

5. They divide the world into good or bad.

6. They scapegoat people and groups.

3. Why do they flourish?
They often appear as a logical explanation of events or situations which are difficult to understand and bring a false sense of control and agency.
