Whole 30 or Paleo come, I need all the tips!

Fave snacks, cookbooks, blogs, etc.

And for motivation, did you lose anything? (females?)

Also a little backstory on why I am doing it instead of various other diets, I have some autoimmune disorders including hypothyroid, hashimotos, etc.

I am trying to reduce inflammation. My weight/BMI is in a good range, but my body really sticks to the last 5-10lbs since having kids so hope to lose a little.

I ordered the defined dish and have danielle walkers books and will be following her meal plans for dinner. Need great breakfast ideas and snack ideas! And favorite dinners!

I’ve done whole 30 a couple of times and I tend to lose very little weight. I think this is due to my love of avocado.

Sorry—I hit send too soon.

My advice would be to not jump in until you are READY. Like you’ve done a huge whole 30 shopping and you have already prepped compliant meals and snacks. Like boil a ton of eggs and cook a lot of meat and roast a lot of vegetables ahead of time. Because once you are in it you will be hungry and wondering what you can eat and wandering sadly around your kitchen wanting something NOW.

White potatoes are compliant now, they weren’t when I did it, I would be careful with those and stick to sweet potatoes for the time being.

Read all the books and tips. Remember that you’re still supposed to build your plate around vegetables and each snack should be balanced (ie not just a handful of nuts).

Believe in the whole SWYPO theory and don’t make pancakes and muffins out of compliant ingredients.

Well Fed is a great cookbook for whole 30. Her paleo pad thai is delicious.

+1 - all three cookbooks are great. I really like the latest one, which aims for faster meals on the table. We’re not paleo (I just try to eat less processed carbs and grains as my waistline benefits) but the recipes are really tasty!

No real weight loss. But, I did figure out which foods caused inflammation in my joints and have been pain free for the last few years.

Why do you want to eat a lot of fat? Deplete your vitamin D and calcium? Possibly cause bowel cancer, kidney and heart disease? Your body wants carbs. You will only overeat after and gain it all back. It is not sustainable. Yes, I am on a bit of a mission to prevent people from fad diets that are bad for you. Eat in moderation, count calories. My uncle died of non alcoholic fatty liver disease, he ate a lot of meat.
Here is a guy that is kind of weird, but tells it like it is.

What were those foods? Dairy? White bread? I had undetected Lyme and now I am "cured" but deterioration and neck stiffness and pain overall sense of join inflammation is still present. Thanks!

I loved being on Paleo. I am no longer strictly on it, but it is the foundation to the way that I eat. I'm 50 so I try to eat more protein as it helps to lower weight as you age. I do eat a tiny bit of dairy (I really don't digest it like I used to) and very few grains and beans because they upset my stomach. People forget that you can still eat lots of veggies and fruit on Paleo.

PP here. For me, it is soy. But, I don't consume much dairy so I'm not sure if that contributes.

Technically not fruit hence my aversion to calling myself on paleo
