I 100% condemn Israel's atrocities. They are war criminals. I am 40+, female, attorney, and make a good amount of money. The more education you have about the region, the more likely you are to understand that Israel is not a good actor.

My far right Christian neighbors, however, believe that Israel has the second coming of Christ on their side and God is working with them to destroy Muslims.

There is a large discrepancy in education here.

Interesting. Similar age/income/education here and couldn't disagree more.

Are you Jewish?

Most of my friends with higher levels of education and having any level or insight into the region have understood that Israel has created an apartheid state. The only lawyers that I know that disagree with me are Jewish.

Your friends aren’t educated at all if they don’t realize that Jews and Palestinians deserve a state. Two states.

Regardless of who fired the rocket that hit the hospital, people on both sides of this issue will believe that the other side did it. And that may be enough to unleash terrorist attacks and destabilizing events all over the world. Judging from the passion on this thread for blaming one side or the other, it may not matter very much who launched that rocket. The damage is done.

I don't think it was part of a sinister plot from Hamas. Its looking more and more like simple incompetence. Its not like these guys are engineers.

This is a JDAM, the typical precision munition typically used by the IDF. It is precision guided, from release to impact. Point is: the IDF hits exactly what it intends to hit:

This is an unguided, improvised Qassam terror-rocket, as used by Islamic Jihad and by Hamas (a designated terrorist organization):

It comes in larger sizes too. It lacks any guidance system at all. It is “aimed” by guessing a general direction of some distant target you hope to hit. It is notoriously unreliable and very inaccurate.

The hospital was most likely struck by accident by Islamic Jihad or by HAMAS.

Nobody who actually knows what apartheid is thinks that Israel is an apartheid state.

That's funny because the South African president has come out and said that very thing.

Nelson Mandela also gave a speech regarding the apartheid in Palestine. But he knows nothing about that, right? Only white ladies in Maryland know best.

It's a Christian hospital. It's largely staffed by Doctors Without Borders. Israel is not targeting that building.

Abbas has just cancelled his meeting with Biden and the West Bank is presently rioting. This hospital strike is working out very well for Hamas.

I would hope that is the case (that Israel did not authorize this barbaric attack). Mainstream media are reporting it as carried out by Israel though.

It sounds more like a a Russian move (they bombed hospitals and clinics in Syria also). Russians were recorded training HAMAS fighters.

Is there any proof as to whom authorized this terrible act?

All of the evidence Israel has put out to claim it was not them has either been deleted or debunked.

Of course this thread of all threads devolves into people talking about their jobs, money and school pedigree.

Never change, DCUM.

We are saying the same thing. I'm just saying Hamas didn't do it intentionally to frame Israel. They just suck at launching rockets.

US assistance is key for Israel.

The US has urged for restraint.

So it makes absolutely no tactical sense for Israel to target the hospital.

A misfired rocket makes a lot more sense.

Exactly. Or even just a Hamas directed rocket (vs a misfire). The only group that benefits from this horrific attack is Hamas. They want as much collateral damage/ civilian deaths in Gaza as possible to do exactly this - have people blame Israel and radicalize more people and make more anti-Israeli bystanders.

Abbas needs to loudly and directly tell Palestinians the truth about what happened.

I do. I’ve lived in both Israel AND apartheid South Africa. In my experience Israel is an apartheid state.

Except, your pal Seamus Malekafzali on X appears to have an ISIS banner on his account’s home page. Not exactly an “unbiased” source.

I will believe Israel before I accept some ISIS nut job.

+1 same here.

+1 another one here.

My sense is that it's the young and naive who are more likely to be anti-Israel.

I've seen the footage of Munich, Entebbe, etc.

This video from Al Jazeera at 1900 shows a Gaza-launched rocket exploding in the sky followed a few seconds later by a very large explosion on the ground.

Are you in public interest or government? Makes sense if so.

Most private practice/corporate attorneys I know are anti-Hamas, anti-terrorist (but would like to see a 2 state solution).

Formal education and income aside, I've noticed that it's generally people on the anti-Israel side who seem really ignorant about basic things.
Like not realizing that Jordan is a country, as opposed to someone's surname, not realizing that there are non-Jews in Israel, not realizing that Jews don't all wear kippas,
