Neither went to BYRC or McLean either. |
What age group is going tonight for ID at BRYC? Agree with the other posters about ECNL being age dependent as to results-there may indeed be McLean and BRYC players particularly at 06 turning up this year at Spirit. BRYC is in 7th place in that age group and McLean is second to last with a “D” licensed coach. Not exactly incentive to stay on.... |
Incorrect. Visit http://www.eliteclubsnationalleague.com/mid-atlantic-standings-2018-19/, click on the team standings, and look at rosters. There are girls at both of those clubs. |
That had DA offers. I know who went where. And they aren't starters at those ECNL teams. Now, I will say I was disappointed when Spirit chose not to offer DA spots to some smaller, technical players. They offered EDP instead and showed some size preference for their DA offers. For all this spouting of how Spirit puts development first, that was disappointing. |
| I should qualify except the goalie. But the goalie she replaced was even worse. |
| Never said anything about being starters. |
No field players that were denied DA spots were offered any level of ECNL spot. Sometimes a good goalie is hard to find for girls. Spirit certainly has its own goalie issues - and the lack of any meaningful goalkeeper program means that won't change any time soon. |
The point you are trying to make here is actually funny to me as a Spirit parent, because almost all of the much disparaged “play ups” are small, very technical players... seems you are having trouble keeping arguments straight. |
| Actually only one play up is small. Two are big for their age. |
Across the club. Not just your age group. |
| Point being, trying to make the argument that Spirit is a big and fast first club ala Loudoun or Arlington is completely inaccurate |
Agreed, across the club. |
Also, the U17 is OK within the conference, but hasn't done very well outside of the conference at Nationals last year or the showcases this year. Does anyone know if BRYC folded their older composite team? I don't see it listed on their site anymore. |
I think it's a mixed bag. They are not a big and fast club (partially that is not their entire focus and partially they haven't been able to recruit large enough numbers to be very selective). That said, I have seen players with speed or size be rewarded with a lot of game time. I also think they support the small technical players, but it's not incorrect to say some of the play ups are playing up because they are big, especially as you move to the older age groups and they have to try and balance numbers and playing time. |
Stop it, you’re embarrassing yourself. |
