This forum exists so people can discuss what they see going on in youth soccer. We are all discussing what we see going on with Spirit VA. What we do with that information will vary.

spirit VA has had bloated rosters with players who tried out at every other DA and eCNL player in town. Its worth discussing if Larry and Richie will change that or not. If they can change it, Spirit VA is worth existing. If it continues, it's not.

No, I don't accept the notion that based on your opinion of what transpires whether Spirit is worth existing or not. Who the hell are you to make that statement?!?!?!

The only question worth asking is whether or not you want your kid there. That is a personal decision and based on your posts the answer is clearly no. So we are back to the original point of why do you care so friggin much? You are likely leaving as is. You don't need the unanimous approval of message board to validate your decision.

The rosters are large, much to large for your taste. Playing time is to even for your tastes. Practice fields are to crowded for your tastes. Winning has been in far to short supply for your tastes. To many play-ups for your tastes.

Did I leave anything out? Exactly what more adult piling can you do in order to convince yourself that NOW you will do the smart thing and leave?

I take exception to the implication that all the Spirit players tried out elsewhere and could not make other DA/ECNL teams and therefore took the Spirit as the only option. Completely untrue. Many players had other options. We can debate all day whether or not they should have taken them based on the arguments on this thread, but claiming that there is no talent is not accurate. In fact, some girls who were not invited back to Spirit DA are now on other area ECNL teams (and some others DID exercise their right to vote with their feet and left for other teams even with Spirit offers in hand...)

Not all. some, which is part of the talent issue at Spirit VA.

If you don't want to discuss it, then don't. Others - myself included - want to. Will they reduce roster size? Will they make any staffing changes? Nothing else you mentioned is important to me, so I'm not going to respond to what I'm not interested in.

Agree. Mainly pointing out that throughout this thread there are many times when the entire group is lumped together and criticized, which isn't accurate or appropriate..

By the way, all the players I know that went to ECNLs did in fact have Spirit DA offers.

Totally fair. I know there are some quality players who keep staying in the hopes that Spirit VA will become something. There are just others who aren't. They lack first touch for example, the ability to connect a pass, and some other basic skills that foundational should be there for any player at this level.

Then it wasn't a caliber ECNL like BRYC. Without calling out any club, a club brand new to the ECNL may have had had issues filling a roster in an age group.

Where is the BRYC love affair coming from. They are GREAT at U16, no question, but U14 was bottom of their conference, and U15 was 8-5-6 which certainly is better than Spirit by a lot, but not lighting the world on fire like their older ages do. And older girls aren't in the market to move anyway.
