Israeli Digital Spokesperson @HananyaNaftali just posted, then DELETED, a tweet admitting that Israel bombed the Baptist Hospital in Gaza, killing 500 civilians.

Naftali reported that the IDF thought they hit a “terrorist base.”

Hamas is well-known for hiding weapons and explosives in hospitals.

They are allowed to bomb miliary targets. But you knew that.

Military targets are military facilities, bases, factories producing weaponry or contributing to a war effort. The entire Gaza strip, which is home to two million civilians with no way out, is not a military target. But you knew that.

Hamas does not have big sprawling military bases like Fort Campbell that sit well apart from big populated centers. The Hamas military infrastructure is scattered all throughout the region. Gaza City is riddled with Hamas outposts, apartments, storage rooms, training rooms and small workshops that produce weapons, and these are all tucked in among legitimate businesses and the residences of innocents. That's why the IDF called for Gazans to evacuate.

I'm aware of that. I still don't think that reality means that the Israeli government is excused from its obligation to follow international law and to not commit crimes against humanity.

The IDF's evacuation order was a CYA move. They knew full well that it wasn't possible to evacuate Gaza City in the timeframe they ordered, and if they were somehow unaware, the UN told them as much. And they are still conducting airstrikes in the south. The same area where thousands of civilians are massed without food, water, fuel, or sanitation because Israel is not allowing them to receive humanitarian aid.

What is the consequence for Hamas (the ruler of Gaza) not following international law? Still waiting for those...

The blood of their women and children smeared on the smoldering walls of a hospital....

Hamas is an internationally recognized terrorist organization. It proudly conducts brutal attacks on civilians with no regard to the laws of war or international law, which is why we consider it to be a terrorist organization. Following international law is what separates civilized governments from rogue states and terrorist organizations. If the IDF is indiscriminately killing civilians the way that Hamas does, how big is the difference between them?

Nah. Why would I do that? I don’t know them. Why would I mourn them more than the thousands dead in Afghanistan from the earthquake or the thousands of children killed by gun violence in the US each year? I mean I know it is the hot news story but so many people are living in misery every day. Right now hundreds of children are being raped by sex tourists in Thailand, kids are drowning in the Rio grande trying to cross the border, Ukrainian women and children are being raped and killed by Russians. This has been the way of mankind for millennia. Whether I mourn them has no impact on any of it. I don’t borrow misery.

Well, we aren't just going to let Hamas win, which seems to be your proposed solution.

Israeli spox saying this was a failed missile launch by Islamic Jihad that hit the hospital. Based on an intelligence assessment.

So Israel’s “right to defend itself” now extends to leveling hospitals full of hundreds of wounded civilians?

Hamas continues to shell Israel.

We don't know who launched the missile, sorry to disappoint you.

So the IDF did target the hospital or not? A minute ago it was Hamas misfire.

This is why people need to wait before they make these comments even online.

Of course, did you miss the memo? If you don’t support this then you are antisemitic and should not be hired, should be cancelled etc. We should all be perfectly fine with the mass killings of innocent civilians in the name of revenge.

Am I the only one curious to know the age/race/income/education level of some of the posters on this board? I find it all fascinating from a sociological perspective.

Interesting and convenient. Saudi Arabia wants to normalize relationship with Israel, attack on Israel. Biden wants to meet Abbas, strike on the hospital. Abbas cancels the meeting. Who is the beneficiary of the canceled meeting? Hamas. Israeli military is saying failed Jihadi rockets are to blame for the the hospital strike.

yes, and the US government has backed it 100%. If you have not called your representatives, now is the time to do so
