I have a young freshman daughter who wants to date a Junior. When I was 15 I dated an 18 y/o, but know that it was NOT ideal (in hindsight, of course). I'm curious what other parents think?
It entirely depends on the individuals in question. Also, check laws in your state.
Nope.
Is he a popular jock-y type or a nerdy inexperienced type?
That’s a huge difference in age and maturity.

You can't stop it. You can either be aware of what's going on or lied to.
(I was forbidden to date my high school boyfriend because he was a senior while I was a freshman. We dated for 4 years. He was a good guy.) |
I really think that's too big of an age difference. If these kids end of up having sex, the boy could get into a lot of trouble.
I did when I was 14, and no way in hell would I allow if I was in the same position.
This is PP and how old of a Junior? My DS will 17yo right at the beginning of his Junior year, while some Juniors will be 16. That year makes a difference.
My 15 year old freshman dates a junior. He's 17. He doesn't drive, they see each other at sports practices and at school. I've never thought twice about it, and I'm a strict type parent I think it depends on the kids involved. I met the boy early on and I am a big fan. He's a sweet guy and kind to my daughter. Not sleeping together or spending much time alone together, so perhaps my feelings would change if that changed. It's not a factor right now.

My 15 year old son dated a 17 year old female junior for about four months. Nothing crazy, but I think he's still a little smitten now that he's a senior.
Apples and oranges though when the girl is younger. |
My 15 yo sophmore (DS) has been dating a 17 yo senior (girl) for the last 6 months. They are so happy and sweet together. It has been great for both of them.
Two words. Hell. No.
Yep. Welcome him into your home so that you know where they are. |
Most junior boys are having sex....
