Stop making all these blanket assumptions about where the MD tags are from. BTW - I know divorced parents in MoCo with 50/50 custody with a parent in DC.

It isn't racist to point out that it is the small handful of schools that are actually worse than DC that have the incentive to game the system. I am sure there are a few poor people in Va and MoCo who view free / reduced child care as attractive options but most of the people outside of PG can afford to send their kids to better which takes the desire to cheat completely away.

DP. You sound very ignorant PP. but then again, racists are ignorant. Thanks for proving PP point.

In this area, race baiters are legion. And just like the master baiter of them all, the late DC mayor and crook, Marion Barry, they use race baiting to deflect attention away from their own corruption and flaws.

Yes, we all know that when people have enough money they don't cheat anymore. <cough> Wall Street </cough>

Really? I see poor people all day long in VA and MoCo.

Not really in the border areas, while there are some for sure in South Arlington and Silver Spring, even these areas have better schools than DC so what would be the point? Even if a few did the majority are coming from PG.

She knows this because her neighbor's dog says it is true.

Or she just uses her logic. Those who have access to good public schools near their home are not cheating. What's the incentive to cheat in that case?
DC doesn't even have enough Pre-K spots for in-boundary students, someone from MoCo who is pretending to be OOB won't even get one.

PG is probably the main culprit. However, many posters are discounting how far many people drive into DC each day for their commute. Many are also coming from Howard, Frederick, and Charles counties. A lot of people want that 4000 sq foot house with cheap finishes but can only afford $400K.

You are so obsessed with having a 4k square foot house that I am starting to think we should make a go fund me page for you.

No thanks. I have no desire to pay those heating bills, gas/car bills, and spend 2.5 hours per day commuting. Nor do I want to furnish a McMansion.
I enjoy my 10 minute commute from a nice area of NW to my office on K Street. And my tastefully furnished loft in a lovely walkable area with a ton of amenities. And our excellent in-bound school just a few blocks away

Lol. Your "loft."

All 800 square feet of its bland, kitchen-island centric floorplan.

And just so we'really clear... I'm not flaming you for your "new urbanism," which is obviously very new... or you wouldn't be so sad about not living in ranier, or wherever those 4k square feet houses are. I lived quite happily in a fake loft for years, with a walkable commute.

Of course, now I work from home, my husband takes a 30 minute bus, and we have a house zoned for deal... that I'm pretty sure is not more expensive than your "loft."

We all make choices. I'm sure you have much nicer appliances than we have! And cars! Or, if you only have one car and it is old, I am sure you are sad about that too. And can't wait to tell us.

I don't begrudge you anything except your mean-spirited obsesion.

NP:
You're the only who seems to still be posting. And begrudgingly at that. Unclench.

Even if cheating parents aren't prosecuted, any DC government workers caught fraudulently enrolling their kids in DCPS should be fired promptly. Of course, they should be made to pay back tuition, costs and interest to DCPS or the charter board.

Right on. Plus a million.

You cannot terminate someone from their place of employment if the offense is not job related, or can be connected to the job. DC statute(s) have not been codified to make this a criminal offense, so you cannot even call it a criminal conviction if the city pursues legal redress for the residency violation.

It's a fraud and integrity issue. Are you saying that DC employees can't be fired for fraud against the government of the District of Columbia? If not, man, DC really is a Third World town.

If the job is a position of trust, offenses of character are relevant to the job.
