Pride, for example, plays in the same tournaments against the same teams as Hero's. Is the status of playing for a top team worth the effort involved in getting to practice multiple times per week? If your goal is to play for a MD team in high school, then it's probably worth setting up shop as early as possible. But if you are a DMV girl who really wants to play for Capital, why bother with a MD team for a year? I don't get it.

There are plenty of DMV girls good enough to make a top MD club, including the NL middie. Anyone suggesting otherwise is not watching these teams play regularly. The MD teams are deep, but they are not so deep that they would not take a good, talented player from NL, Pride, Stars, etc. But is the juice worth the squeeze? Pride, for example, plays in the same tournaments against the same teams as Hero's. Is the status of playing for a top team worth the effort involved in getting to practice multiple times per week? If your goal is to play for a MD team in high school, then it's probably worth setting up shop as early as possible. But if you are a DMV girl who really wants to play for Capital, why bother with a MD team for a year? I don't get it.

This is a sensible post. Agree with all the key points, and with the conclusion for Pride and Stars players who want to play Capital. I have one amendment: Even if you want to play for Capital in 9th grade, a top player at NL should consider a switch to Pride or Stars, or even a Baltimore team if they live close enough to make the commute. The NL 2028s had a rough NGLL season, and don't even appear to be playing in tournaments. A top NL player would get better development, and play more tourneys (Pride plays in top brackets) on one of the better DMV teams.

Who would want to be on a team with a psycho dad screaming all the time? That really has been a black eye for the Stars program. Amazing the damage one a-hole can do.

No kidding; it's the main reason we didn't consider the Stars program for our '28 DD. That, and the lower brackets at tourneys a close second.

So like 4 years ago when you first joined a travel team, you said to yourself "I don't want to be on a team with this one individual girl's dad who I don't even know, and I want my third grader playing in the top bracket so NO STARS FOR YOU!"

Or did you follow the other Great Falls parents to Pride so you could improve your lax parent social status?

SD likely does not have beef with Great Falls parents, or even know or care where the Pride players live. This is likely a disgruntled former Pride parent.
