2028 Girls Lacrosse

My understanding is there were some cuts last year, but not a ton. Nowhere near what you had in cuts for American Select, at least in the 2026 age group.

The prior year there were no cuts for AU Futures.

Is it worth doing? How does it compare to Apex? We did Apex last year and whole the talent level of player was high, there was a lot of grumbling about the cost relative to what you get.

If you're choosing between events to spend your money on, you may also want to consider that American Select is including 2028s this year. As far as AU Futures goes, if there were cuts, there were VERY few to answer OP question. And Apex obviously just takes who ever signs up. I've heard people say they liked Apex because they mix the girls up so you play with people from all different regions. AU Futures, theoretically you're trying out for a region and playing with girls on local clubs. Last year 28s were lumped with 29s.

AS is the most expensive. $700 and that doesn't include the tryout fee

Apex was new last year. Mixed reviews from those who attended

The draw to the futures event is getting to meet all of the pros if that is something that interests your daughter. If your daughter already plays for a top club, however, the competition won't be any different than what she experiences in summer torunaments

Who cares. MS scores and ranking have no bearing if your DD is going to excel on the HS field. Who has the best coach so the girls get better? The best MS coach could actually be the team that has a bad ranking.

Fair point. Not looking to get my daughter recruited, just looking for a good lacrosse experience and was not thrilled with Apex last summer.

What does this have to do with summer showcases of apex, AU, and AS?

So sorry your DD plays for a bad team.

Yes. We left this team and went to Hero’s. They were dreadful.

We’re on 2028 Hero’s Green (A team). Heck of a commute but hell of a team! 5th in country currently

All that way for a 4-3 against Pride?

Omg. You Pride parents are relentless!!! Seriously get over yourselves. I watched that Hero’s game. They held the ball for a good 8+ mins to kill the clock.

I watched it too. Hero's and Pride looked to be pretty similar from a talent perspective. Hero's probably belongs somewhere between 10 and 20 in the rankings, which of course is still pretty good. There is a big gap between the real top teams and Hero's and Pride.

This right here. Big drop off from the top 3 28 teams, M&D, MDU and Coppermine to Hero's. Hero's doesn't have the talent that those top 3 do. If the PP thinks the Pride parents are bad, the Hero's parents are worse.

Plus, I know that the Pride director has a sketchy reputation, but she is great at teaching the game and an amazing woman. Love her!
