NL player making a top MD club? I must’ve missed her.

Trying out.

There are plenty of DMV girls good enough to make a top MD club, including the NL middie. Anyone suggesting otherwise is not watching these teams play regularly. The MD teams are deep, but they are not so deep that they would not take a good, talented player from NL, Pride, Stars, etc. But is the juice worth the squeeze? Pride, for example, plays in the same tournaments against the same teams as Hero's. Is the status of playing for a top team worth the effort involved in getting to practice multiple times per week? If your goal is to play for a MD team in high school, then it's probably worth setting up shop as early as possible. But if you are a DMV girl who really wants to play for Capital, why bother with a MD team for a year? I don't get it.

This is a sensible post. Agree with all the key points, and with the conclusion for Pride and Stars players who want to play Capital. I have one amendment: Even if you want to play for Capital in 9th grade, a top player at NL should consider a switch to Pride or Stars, or even a Baltimore team if they live close enough to make the commute. The NL 2028s had a rough NGLL season, and don't even appear to be playing in tournaments. A top NL player would get better development, and play more tourneys (Pride plays in top brackets) on one of the better DMV teams.

Who would want to be on a team with a psycho dad screaming all the time? That really has been a black eye for the Stars program. Amazing the damage one a-hole can do.

No kidding; it's the main reason we didn't consider the Stars program for our '28 DD. That, and the lower brackets at tourneys a close second.

So like 4 years ago when you first joined a travel team, you said to yourself "I don't want to be on a team with this one individual girl's dad who I don't even know, and I want my third grader playing in the top bracket so NO STARS FOR YOU!"

Or did you follow the other Great Falls parents to Pride so you could improve your lax parent social status?

Sounds like SD has found his way back to this thread!

Sure does.

SD likely does not have beef with Great Falls parents, or even know or care where the Pride players live. This is likely a disgruntled former Pride parent.

Nope.
.

I’d put money on it.

I’d guarantee it is a Pride parent posing in order to help keep the Pride parents from leaving. They are scared of players leaving this year.

There are definitely some leaving because of the Great Falls mafia. And they aren't going to Stars.

I hear BLC has some open slots to fill

No, it’s Next Level. Current Pride girls who are not held hostage by the Great Falls mafia are going to take Next Level to the next level.

I appreciate the sardonic wit in this post.

I think it is telling how little NL chatter there is. This is primarily Stars/Pride parents.

They have to make a new team before they can leave. It is pretty presumptuous to think that they will just walk on to any MD team when tryouts haven’t even happened yet. Wanting to leave and actually being able to go where you want are 2 different things

OMG. Maryland teams?! Hilarious. You are killing me.

Folks...this is an elaborate and extended trolling. A sardonically funny one, which apparently was just credible enough. For those engaging sincerely in the "GF mafia" and Next Level silliness, just know you are responding to a troll or team of them laughing at their laptops right now.

Someone I know won't shut up about Great Falls people, so I suspect some portion of this thread was sincere. By the time we got to Next Level it was nothing but trolls.

Any Pride girls do any of the MD tryouts this week?

Pride 2028 is at US Youth Nationals with 3 games tomorrow and at least one on Wednesday. Pretty unlikely.

Ah. Seems like some strategic scheduling there.

Would love to see SD screaming on the sidelines at MD tryouts.

Players serious about wanting to move teams only have to schedule an "evaluation" at one of their games.

Send an email explaining the dilemma, coaches come and watch a game or 2. It's the work around for conflicting tryout dates everywhere.
