I disagree. It would shut people down.

No they would just find other things to harp about. They are not honest people.

More information is always better. Always.

No relevant facts are in dispute. It’s clear what happened.

Not according to the SF police per NBC news.

Relevant facts: Depape broke in with a hammer and said he would not leave. Pelosi called 911 and kept Depape calm for half an hour. When the police entered they saw Depape hit Pelosi in the head with the hammer. No doubts about the break-in or the assault. Case closed.

I am not a conspiracy theorist. Never have been. I think what happened to Pelosi is horrible.
But, there are so many questions surrounding this story - and they are a result of continued conflicting reporting.
Body cam footage has to be released. If it isn't, more questions arise.

Completely agree.

A lot of people are talking about her addressing the incident but this part broke my heart. About halfway through her town hall she stopped and froze to hold back tears. Then just pushed through.

"In most of the 28-minute video, Ms. Pelosi talked about various aspects of the midterm elections. At one point, she appeared to grow emotional, her voice faltering as she alluded to fears of political violence while speaking about the importance of voting rights and the need to have secure polling places.

“The protection — I’m sorry,” she said, pausing for a moment. “That is driven home to me — the fear that some people have about what’s out there coming at poll workers and the rest — we have to have the public safety. We have to have the law enforcement to make sure that our voting sites are safe.”"

1. That is in Depape’s statement but he contradicted it saying he didn’t want the police to come in and “would go through Pelosi.”
2. It’s not what the police saw or said.
3. It’s not what Pelosi said he did.
4. It isn’t relevant to the charges or case. Hitting him in the head with a hammer after breaking into his house is still assault with a deadly weapon and attempted murder.

See the update Mediate added:

A source with knowledge of the story’s handling told Mediaite the segment was removed after it was determined the main source for the information was unreliable regarding the circumstances that the police encountered when they arrived at the house, specifically what the police saw and how far the attacker was from the door.

What don’t you understand? Your guy broke in with a hammer to kneecap the Speaker of the House that your guys have vilified and when the police came in your guy bashed Paul Pelosi in the head with the hammer. Why do you psychos want to blame the victim?

DP. “Your guy”?? Do you even hear yourself? The PP correctly said the body cam footage needs to be released - something I have no doubt you’d be demanding in any other situation. Yes, Pelosi was attacked with a hammer. No one is disputing that. And no one is “blaming the victim.” Maybe take a seat and let the adults talk.

It sounds like Pelosi, Police, and the perpetrator all have the same description of what happened. Not sure why people want the body cam released and I don’t personally want to watch an 82 year old guy get hit in the head with a hammer. In fact, I could see this video being a big joke when shown at a Kari Lake rally.

Uvalde was a situation where I did want to see the body cams. That’s because there were wildly varying stories as to what happened, and something unthinkable happened. Police were nearby for over an hour but no one approached the shooter who was in a room with little kids. Yeah, I wanted to see the body cams then. But again, not to see violence happen. Just to see what police were doing. Not the perp.

This is not a situation with varying descriptions of what happened from any of the 3 parties and it’s a big distraction of how horrific it was and how all sides should be loudly condemning this act.

The GOP wants the video so they can make content out of it - meme GIFs to laugh about on social media. Alex Jones to use the video in a conspiracy theory tirade.

These are today’s conservatives.

You take that at face value? If this was, say Breitbart, that retracted the story and Newsmax reported it then gave an update on it like that, you would not be curious? Really? Because I would be!

Oh, and the NBC story is consistent with DePape’s account where he said Pelosi was the one to open the door. Once you have an open door and officers in it, you just keep moving. He IS in his 80s though so I would probably chock this up to potential confusion.
