Looks like a new Gaza war has started

It’s almost like Hamas turned it into a weaponized place. That point gets overlooked by far too many who are, I guess, rooting for Israel’s extirmination.

Hamas doesn't want peace. And their supporters are OK with this. They prefer being "mad" to finding solutions. They prefer being "right" to compromising. This is a very Mediterranean mentality. It's why feuds between warring families could last centuries. Look at Siciliy. It doesn't get you anywhere though. It certainly hasn't gotten Gaza to a better place, has it? The only people happy are the Hamas who have family and fat bank accounts stashed in Switzerland. Laugh is on everyone else. Old story, played out many times.

Ravina Shamdasani, spokeswoman for the UN high commissioner for human rights, says the organisation is "concerned" that the Israeli military's demand that Palestinians move from northern Gaza to the south could amount to the "forcible transfer of civilians - in breach of international law".

If a country is believed to have committed a war crime during conflict, the case can be looked at by the International Criminal Court (ICC) - the Palestinians are members, but Israel is not.

In a statement, Shamdasani adds that attacks on civilians - while attempting to flee the necessary parts of Gaza - must be investigated independently.

She also appeals for the "immediate and unconditional" release of all Israeli hostages, with the latest Israeli reports indicating around 199 are being held.

I remember now, the joining of ICC. Israel opposed it, now we know why

Yes, the extreme bias against it.

What is the bias against the ICC? This is an offshoot from the Nuremberg trials, so what is the extreme bias?

Not PP, but I think she was referring to the extreme bias against Israel. Which is accurate.

It seems you have a high tolerance for Israel's wartime depravity because the last I checked, Israel was still bombing Gaza.

Israel declared war. So war it is.

And herein lies the rub for Israel.

Jews are despised globally. That is kind of a global fact and why Israel was created as the first “safe space”after the UK failed since like 1917.
Like biblical, pre-Hitler and subsequent recent history. Don’t know why, Jews have their perspective and the other part of the world has theirs.

Uhh, what???

What’s the Jewish perspective? I’d like to know.

So ICC is extremely biased against Israel? Based on what?
Please help me understand

So how will this war end in the destruction of Hamas?

This is true. So many here and in the media are so quick to dismiss information coming from IDF, but willingly accept anything coming out of the Hamas controlled media.

I don't believe the numbers coming out of Israel either. 🤷

We know. 1400 people were not slaughtered on 10/7. Right? And there are not 199 hostages.

Unverified

yeah, all those bodies were accidents I'm sure

Oh, maybe the obsession with Israel and the downplaying of other countries’ war crimes.

Uhhhwhat? Did you forget the part about how this started, when Hamas, the group that governs Gaza, declared war on Israel?

Have you followed ICC proceedings? I think they are very balanced

A mother and daughter from the suburbs of Chicago were taken hostage by Hamas during their trip to Israel to celebrate a Jewish holiday season and a birthday party, according to their rabbi.

Judith Raanan and her 17-year-old daughter, Natalie Raanan, traveled to Nahal Oz in Israel, about a mile from the Gaza border, to celebrate a relative's 85th birthday and Simchat Torah.

"It has been confirmed to the family that both Judith and Natalie are alive and are hostages in Gaza," Rabbi Meir Hecht of Evanston, Illinois, told Fox News Digital. "The Israeli government and the State Department confirmed that information with the family."

I am glad they are alive. Is there a historical precedent for taking hostages in this part of the world? From Iran on, the hostage taking of civilians is constant. Or is it just part of the terrorist mindset-what you do when you don't want to fight actual armies? Pick on the defenseless?

Maybe if our foreign policy wasn’t so imbalanced they wouldn’t need to take hostages . People take hostages when they want leverage in a negotiation

Oh please. They take hostages because they are psychopaths.

Nope. Throughout history, people take live hostages as a desperate way to get powers that be to either pay them or listen to them .

It’s not psychopath behavior. It’s actually the most accepted form of warfare because it allows for negotiation and victims are alive throughout .

Keep acting shocked or surprised as to to why Hamas is doing it. It’s because they want leverage. What can one do? Bomb them to smithereens and kill the hostages as well. Nope.

That’s the point . They want to keep hostages alive and release them in exchange for something

Except Hamas really misplayed this. Their savagery and clear intention to existentially destroy Israel has gone beyond negotiating for hostages. My heart bleeds for the hostages, but Hamas made this a fight to the death. Israel will do everything to retrieve these hostages., but they are not going to make great concessions to Hamas this time. I dont see that happening, do you? The Gilat situation is kind of "fooled you once". Just don't see it happening ever again.

Agree with this. Hamas totally overplayed their hand. Until last Saturday, Israel was quite weak. A deeply unpopular government. A country completely distracted by their judicial crisis. Israel was doing a great job tearing itself apart with their own internal divisions.

And then Hamas undertook the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust. I cannot think of a quicker way to unite a country. There will be no negotiation with Hamas at all I'm afraid. A Gilat type trade is never happening again. At best, Hamas might be able to leverage their foreign hostages for something. Those foreign hostages are a huge liability for Hamas. It unites the world against them. But I cannot see anyone conceding anything to Hamas from this point forward. It's like negotiating with ISIS. Those days are done. Hamas completely misplayed things. All that's left is their endgame.

The US also is not part of the ICC. Did you know that?

People take civilian hostages when they are amoral.

The moral of decapitating, dismembering and crushing thousands of children under the crushing weight of buildings.
Of bringing champagne and crackers to watch “the fireworks” over Gaza.

War is hell. It is tragic that Hamas started it.

I’ll be sure to quote you when my kids study the Holocaust. Cheers!

This is terrible. I hope Hamas releases the hostages and starts helping their people.
