DeSantis is term limited, so his governorship is over next year. I guess he could put a dedicated place-holder in Rubio's seat and then run for the Senate seat in 2026, but what are DeSantis' other political plays. |
Hold on a second...Hegseth's mom defended him on Fox News this morning. Maybe he'll be ok! |
As I told my mom this morning: DeSantis suuuucks but he is 100000x better than Hegseth. He is terrible but not unqualified. He doesn't seem to have a long history of drunkenness and troubling, to put it mildly, relationships with women. He has experience running a large bureaucracy and people - not me, but other people - being happy with his job. Sort of like going from Gaetz to Pam Bondi - certainly no one I'd ever choose for the job but definitely a big trade up. He should be confirmable and he'd probably do a competent job. |
His political career is over after being governor basically no matter what. Unless he decides to run for Senate - but that's going to be hard to do with another R as an incumbent. |
Here's Hegseth's 1999 senior yearbook:
https://resources.finalsite.net/images/v1703014847/flaschoolsorg/pdvjzfimrymtb6ca6qum/1999.pdf You can see photos of him with his first wife. He's mentioned A LOT in the yearbook - just do a keyword search for "Hegseth" |
You’re probably being sarcastic but his character witness choked his wife in front of their children. He was fired from two veterans groups for unacceptable behavior and a drinking problem, and the video of him insulting Trump started making rounds again. He’s done. |
The DeSantis thing isn't coming out of the blue. Even the Post is leading with it now. I think it's done. Hedgseth will drop out in the next 48 hours.
The spotlight will then move on to Gabbard. There is no way she survives an FBI background check. Republican senators seem pretty keen to have the more problematic candidates drop out before confirmation hearings. |
I never thought I would be thrilled to have names like DeSantis and Rubio in the cabinet. The GOP has so completely won this war, because the guys we once considered nuts are now the most sane and competent people in the room. And we are glad for them. |
Going through the guys HS yearbook is creepy. |
The smear on Pete Hegseth is troubling. It looks like a disgruntled former employee is executing a smear. The former head of his organization has now clarified he left due to different of opinion on direction. There were zero issues with his conduct. Why was that not in any of these articles? That is what should stand. His marriage in 2018 is not an issue. He has a bad divorce like 50 percent of country. His mom doing interview today was helpful because nowhere was it reported that she apologized for the inital email two hours later. She was upset he was getting divorced and has said that years later he is happy and in a great marriage. Somehow that was not included in any of these articles out there. Not that his marriage is anyone’s business. Low blow for anyone to leak initial email fyi. Senators should not allow smears to affect their thinking of him as a candidate. Hegseth will be a Sec of Defense who puts our soldiers first and cares about their well being. He also is not a fan of endless wars. This is a good thing. |
Your delusion runs deep and is rather sad, but I agree with you that not wanting endless wars is a good thing. |
You’re ridiculous but here’s the thing about military leadership. Optics matter. Live your live in such a way that no one can even make these accusations. |
Is there any evidence our soldiers aren’t cared for? I’m a Trump voter but work in defense. The “soldiers” are cared for better than almost anyone else. |
LOL. Their exhaustion campaign wins. But we still need to look alive. |
