DeSantis would be a great choice. No one can argue that he isn't eminently qualified (though no doubt, DCUM's finest will do just that).

As I told my mom this morning: DeSantis suuuucks but he is 100000x better than Hegseth. He is terrible but not unqualified. He doesn't seem to have a long history of drunkenness and troubling, to put it mildly, relationships with women. He has experience running a large bureaucracy and people - not me, but other people - being happy with his job.

Sort of like going from Gaetz to Pam Bondi - certainly no one I'd ever choose for the job but definitely a big trade up. He should be confirmable and he'd probably do a competent job.

+1. I’d prefer a pick that has actual military or foreign policy experience but DeSantis is at least somewhat normal. yes it’s a low bar in Trumpworld.

DeSantis would be a great choice. No one can argue that he isn't eminently qualified (though no doubt, DCUM's finest will do just that).

People with psychopathic tendencies seek prominent positions in society. And they also tend to abuse others during their ascent because they get off on exercising power. They leave a trail of victims.

So yes, people in prominent roles in biz/politics/entertainment are MORE likely to have victims and allegations than the average person. It's because a large portion of people in prominent positions are high functioning whackjobs.

2. It is the fact they put themselves in the spotlight that leads to major news sources picking up on these allegations. They were always there, and there is plenty of evidence in that in Hegseth’s case.

The better question is why do these men with so many skeletons in their closet put themselves in a position where the skeletons will clearly come out?

I’m a liberal who thinks DeSantis is a blowhard….but he’s 100x better than Hegseth. And he will easily get confirmed. Does Ron want it? It will also elevate the Lt Gov to Gov and make her a front runner in 2026

DeSantis would be a moron to take the job. Trump would fire him within a year and his political career would be done.

Agreed. I don’t know why they announce these potential appointments without asking the potential nominee first if they want the job. I can’t see how this would be a good move for DeSantis.

DeSantis is term limited, so his governorship is over next year. I guess he could put a dedicated place-holder in Rubio's seat and then run for the Senate seat in 2026, but what are DeSantis' other political plays.
