You have to do the work if demonstrating why your desired diversity is the better one. |
Agree TJ is a waste of resources. Either end it or go full lottery. At least, the other 95% of the population may benefit. |
By what metric? Highest % of insane parents? |
Nah. it takes Governor/legislative action to change a governor's school back to base school so it ain't happening so stop wasting people's time with this. It ain't going back to base school and lottery ain't happening so stop wasting time. |
It’s a community resource that isn’t set aside solely for a small portion of the community. |
That's what governor's schools do! |
It should be a private school period. It has nothing to do with 95% of students and the money spent for this special school deserves to be spent on the other 95% of students instead. |

If you’re a parent of a kid who already graduated, you got yours, so naturally you are in favor of that.
If you’re not connected at all to THHSST, thanks for playing. Please take a seat. |
Where in the charter does it say it should only serve a handful of wealthy middle schools? |
Because it IS diversity. |
Every year FCPS applies for TJ to be redesignated as a Governor's School for the upcoming year, so stop spreading misinformation. |
Where in the charter does it say it should discriminate against kids attending certain middle schools because the schools are "wealthy"? It's a shit show either way. |
You: We need fruit, therefore, apples. Me: We have a lot of other fruits already, why is apples better? You: Because it IS fruit. |
+1 By a huge margin. |

What standard are you using to claim that TJ is the most diverse in the county?
According to US news it’s enrolment of Black Hispanic and low income kids is abysmal. 2.4 % Hispanic 1.9% black 2% economically disadvantaged Compare that to census data for Fairfax country https://www.census.gov/quickfacts/fairfaxcountyvirginia Black - 10.6% Hispanic- 16.5% Poverty - 5.3% |
