this made me chuckle!

i don't know why i expected to come here this morning and find anything other than hatred. still blaming meghan. smh.

Yes the racism is strong in these people. this will likely be the longest thread i ever make on dcum haha

Just because people don’t believe Meghan, doesn’t make them racist. Every opinion isn’t veiled in racism.

You don't know why your opinion is or is not racist. You don't know how you might not even have control over your own opinion. Your language and social structures are controlling your opinions. Read up a bit, and stop showcasing your ignorance. Just cause my uncle thinks he is smart and not stupid, doesn't actually make him smart and not stupid!

It's apparent you see race in everything for some reason.

DP. It would be difficult not to if you have to live with it everyday of ones life. It is easy to take it off the shelf and put it back on when you are never affected by it. I found it interesting that Harry said he never thought about it until he saw how it was affecting his wife.

"Do what we want and how we want it or you are on your own."

Not really true.

There’s no precedent for giving a prince title to Archie, or separate security. He’s a great-grandchild. The Queen would have to issue a separate letters patent, which Parliament would then have to approve.

People act like Williams’ and Harry’s kids are on equal footing. They are not and never will be.

Got it thanks. Meghan made it seem like her son was stripped of the title. Said something along the lines of why should my son not have what he is entitled to have...That's why I was confused.

That's not quite it. William's kids already have it because they are children of the heir. Since the time of Elizabeth's father, Archie would get it when his grandfather became king. Right now the monarch is his great grandmother. The BRF was considering changing that tradition so that grandchildren on the reigning monarch NOT get the title. Meghan was pointing out that they were making that change just when Archie and his sister were going to be the ones to benefit. It troubled her that they would change the tradition just when the first person of color would stand to benefit. It troubled her far more that ongoing security for Archie and his sister was tied to that title. So it wasn't just a title. It was a title and security.

That is not true. The law was changed in 2013 just before George was born. Otherwise his siblings would NOT have been HRHs but he would have. They would have been Lord Louis and Lady Charlotte until Charles was King - just like Archie. Meghan's confusion was 'well if they changed the law for one child, while aren't they doing it for the rest'.

You are talking about two different laws.

https://people.com/royals/meghan-markle-oprah-interview-archie-royal-title/

Umm no. The same law. The letters patent was submitted in 2013 to change the law for any children born to William after his firstborn.

Yes, but that isn't what Meghan was talking about. She's talking about this:

"It is possible that Archie could receive a royal title later in life. When his grandfather, Prince Charles becomes king (in the event of Queen Elizabeth's death), the title of "prince" will be automatically given to him as the child of a son of the king.". This is the family was proposing to change.

William's children got their titles (it used to only apply to sons before 2013 but now daughters also) because he is the eldest son of the Prince of Wales. Archie would get his because he'd be the grandchild of the son of a reigning monarch. The latter is what they proposed changing.

Man some of y’all do not belong to biracial families and it shows. There are tons of speculation about skin color before the babies are born. We all wonder if they will take after Mom or Dad. It is not offensive, no one thinks that! No more than wondering whose eye color they will have. I can’t help but wonder if some poor schleb over there made an innocent comment and will now have the racist thing hanging over their head.

Archie didn't have security before stepping away. As an infant, he is mostly with his parents. But as he aged this would be an issue.

Let’s be transparent, Archie was covered under his father’s umbrella. There was no immediate security concern.

And yet someone broke into the home looking for Archie when H&M were on travel. Fortunately, he was with the nanny. Two months later H&M departed for Canada. I wonder if that was the last straw that pushed them to leave.

I keep seeing this mentioned but never with receipts.

No. He’s hanging the tea over X-person’s head. They know who they are. They know he knows. Awkward.

They made a nasty accusation of racism attributed to no particular person and know full well the royals can’t/won’t defend themselves from it.

Tasteless, but par for the course for this couple.

I’m more worried about his mental health than hers. He seems so lost lately.

Oprah asked her, so it the title just because that’s how you get him security. And Meghan answered “no it’s his birthright.” So clearly Meghan cares about the title beyond the security piece.

The US already had a Prince. He was from Minneapolis and played a mean guitar. RIP, he's the original American Prince.

That is quite different from "Bro, did you give this a thought? If you marry her your kid might be black!"

Oprah clarified this morning that it wasn't one conversation, it was conversations. It's hard to imagine that Harry could misconstrue the tenor of multiple conversations.

I admit this forum is highly entertaining today and a nice break from real problems.

This. Discussing whether the baby’s hair, eyes, skin will look more like mom’s or dad’s is not a verboten subject in most interracial families. My husband and I certainly speculated about it.

I thought the same thing. This is part of why I think MM isn't as black as she'd like to present herself as - because she doesn't seem to have much experience being black.
What if some black or bi-racial Palace staffers had been speculating/asking this question? Would that person have gotten the dagger eye?
