European formulas

Has anyone talk to their pediatrician about using these? I’ve read some things about lack of shipping regulations and it worries me but otherwise I am interested in trying them.

Why are you interested? This is such a stupid trend. And potentially dangerous. Just buy some Similac and be done.

And if you actually understand ingredients, you will realize the ingredients are the same.

OP here. From everything I read it sounded like there was less corn syrup and other artificial ingredients. Definitely open to that being wrong!

I have heard people repeat ad naseum that the European formulas are better. From another thread:

you look at the list of ingredients for HIPP and Enfamil newborn, here are the differences:

They both use skimmed milk as a base, and add whey protein.

They both use palm oil, sunflower oil, soy oil, and coconut oil, but HIPP also adds rapeseed oil while Enfamil doesn't.

They both have LCP oils, HIPP describes the source as "fish, vegetable". Enfamil uses the scientific names of the organisms they're derived from "mortierella alpina oils, crypthecodinium cohnii oil"

They both have "galacto-oligosaccharides", HIPP has lactic acid, Enfamil has polydextrose

They both have a long list of vitamins and minerals, some of which are the same, some of which are different, and some of which seem to be called by different names because the two countries label things differently.

For those of you who chose HIPP because the ingredients were superior, which of these differences led you to choose HIPP? A love for rapeseed oil? An objection to knowing exactly where your LCP oils came from? An objection to polydextrose? Because otherwise they are very similar.

This is simply a weird trend that I think caught on because women who formula feed feel guilty and want the best and have stupidly been convinced these formulas are the best. They are basically the same and the European formulas come with risks that US ones do not.

You sound defensive. It's formula. Let me use whatever they want.

Nope. I feel zero guilt about not breastfeeding. Some people are really into health food. Is it really that hard to understand? It's not rocket science.

What's "health food" about European formulas vs US formulas?

It has risks that US formula does not. It is stupid. Women should be less stupid.

There is nothing more healthy about it. That is what is hard to understand. People are so dumb.

That's subjective. Why do get upset by this. You're the weirdo.

What pediatrician is going to recommend a formula not approved by the FDA?

In your opinion, what is more healthy about it?

I’m a lawyer and had a case about formula safety/benefits. I use Enfamil Neuropro. I think any formula currently on the market is safe but after spending a long time immersed in the data, this is what I’m most comfortable with.
