IAC Lacrosse 2019 Season

What a game over at Falls road!

I think Bullis squeaks past the Saints in the IAC finals, Bullis is very deeep in the midfield

Unbelievable on both fronts. How Bullis has needed OT to beat a very weak Landon team (by its standards) is beyond me.
No idea how Prep let that happen to them, at Prep no less! Been expecting SSSA to do something all season and repeatedly disappointed. Suspect they played their best game and won't be able to duplicate it against Bullis.
Too bad we won't see a Prep Bullis rematch, but SSSA earned it.

Prep made a deal with the devil and it cost them when it matters.

Landon is a very good team and very well coached. OT was only fitting for this game. 2 Outstanding teams playing in a great game. Landon is set up for success for years to come.

Landon was a dramatically much-improved team this season from when I first watched them play in March.

They were a young team this year, started several freshman and sophomores, so while they might have had a "down year" for their lofty standards, I think the program will be right back in the title hunt next season.

On the other hand, Bullis' offense is fun to watch. They can score and the team moves the ball nicely. Based on the roster I saw tonight, Bullis loses a very talented 2019 class.

Good luck to both the Saints and Bulldogs in the IAC finals on Friday!

It is true we don't have an undefeated team in the area but that does not equate to saying lacrosse is DOWN for the area.

You are a complete homer. That top teams in this area would get throttled by the top teams from the past few years. It is 100% a down year across the board.

DP. Actually, if you look at the national rankings over the past 5 years, you'll see that the DMV teams had more staying power this year than in past years. They held their relative positions this year specifically much more than last year and the year before. Last year we had several teams very high in the rankings pre-season but they mostly tanked by the end of the season. I agree with the first poster - the overall caliber of teams has risen.

What you're looking for, second poster, are the showboats and indeed those are missing. The showboats are the single boy around which an entire team swivels: the FOGO, the goalie, the shot master. It is a good thing that we're moving beyond that. While people like you miss their man crushes, what you see on the field is improved play by the rest of the teams because they don't need the rocket man as much as they thought they did because they can work as a team to achieve the same objective.

Start looking at the long-term trends instead of one year against another. Yes, this year there are fewer one-man, one-name teams but that is a good thing overall for boys lax because the general caliber of play is very strong and improving.

+1 They improved dramatically since the beginning of the season. No skin in their game, just agreeing with the observation.

Landon is extremely well coached and disciplined. They play hard. Good tough game.

The Fogo for the Saints was unreal along with their attack..they made more plays and deserved to win. Bullis depth is a concern, goalie play and fogos down the stretch will decide the final.

IAC final this Friday will be a good one!

Saints have the edge at the faceoff X but I like Bullis overall team athleticism and depth.

Bullis prevails 12 - 9.

Conversation at Congressional and Columbia the rest of the week...

"We need a new coach..."
"Someone call Mater Dei....we need to figure out how to justify double holdbacks cause single year holdbacks aren't working..."
"At least Landon isn't in final...but that means the public school that masquerades as a private is..."
"Bullis recruits..."
"We still have Kavanaugh..."
"Pass the single malt...tnis one is going to hurt for awhile...."
"We still get a regular season champ trophy, right?? Oh...no...darn....I'll make the boys a banner to put up..."
"Open another bottle..."
"SSSA shouldn't be in IAC...too far away..."
"If only St. Albans was still good...we dominate them..."
"We still have Gorsuch..."
"We are still awesome!"
"Cheers!"

can anybody report how SSSA beat Prep? Prep looked like they were peaking at the right time.

As a Landon fan, it is clear this is the first true rebuilding year they've had, ever. Sure they almost beat Bullis and Prep and came back to make it close against Gonzaga, but those are still losses. Expect better things next year.

SSSA won something like 26 of 29 face-offs, and the offense played very well. This is a team that pummeled St. Mary's early in the season and lost at Haverford in OT. When everything clicks, they can be tough to handle.
