IAC Lacrosse 2019 Season

Did MD legalaize weed? What are you smoking in Potomac?! No way would Churchill have a chance. And there are no comps to use as an argument because Churchill did not play any teams that Landon played. Night and day!

Yeah, yeah, yeah...whatever, and Volkswagon's are Porche's with a different body style. Shut up and go away.

It's the other way around -- and, as you point out, a bad analogy.

Yes, there are no comps, making your conclusion just as ridiculous as mine. Or just as valid.

Well if Churchill played better teams there would be comps. But they are content to go 22-0 playing nobodies.

I would have loved to have seen Churchill play Landon this past spring. I would have given Churchill a chance to win the game.

why don't you ask your boy Coach Fritz, why he dropped Landon a year ago.

The last time Landon played Churchill, the game was an absolute joke, given Landon ended up being #1 in the Nation that year. I recall the game was 12 - 0 at halftime.

Yes, Churchill was outmatched two years ago. I'm talking about this past spring. And I have no connection to Churchill.

I remember Churchill getting run off the field two years ago at the Fall Landon tourney. VA private’s wouldn’t even hang with the lower half of the divisions.

I don't think it would have been as bad as two years ago, but it still would have been bad. Landon returned its top scorer and its first line midfield. They lacked the depth of two years ago, but they were still a dominant team with players that Churchill could not match up against. Landon sent kids from that class off to play at Maryland, Michigan, Bucknell, Hopkins, and Towson. Probably others as well. I would have given Churchill a chance to win, too--but it would have been in the low single digit percentages, like 3 or 4% chance.

They should at least play St. Andrews. Jeez, it's what, a 5 minute walk from one campus to another. If they are feeling confident, take on a lower tier iac team. They will lose, but won't get smoked and it's a step in the right direction to more parity between public and privates.

What's in it for any perennial power house school in any sport to play a nobody school?

It's like a man boxing a woman. If you beat her up, you're a loser, punk arsehole and if she beats you. Yeah, you guessed it...loser, punk, arsehole!!!

Now if you want to let your IAC JV team, play a public high school Varsity team....that is good cannon fodder both ways.

Oakton plans to play a few privates next spring.

So does Yorktown.

Historically Robinson has always played Landon. Robinson up until last Spring had won 4 straight Virginia State championships.

Woodson won it 2 years ago, genius

3 years ago it was 6-5 at half.

A bit harshly stated, but the Post is a joke when it comes to "rankings" and all met in lacrosse. They have to sell papers, but it is amazing when they rank a Churchill, Robinson or other public in the mix with the top IAC and WCAC programs. There is no comparison.

I have often wondered why the Post and other news organs/sites in the DMV don’t have two sets of rankings: one for publics and one for the WCAC/IAC - especially for football, lax and basketball. Depending on the school and the sport, some of these programs are quasi-college programs already.

There are a few kids on Oakton that could “hold their own” against the private school players, but yes, the depth of the privates will prove too much in the end. That said, playing that level of competition will certainly help Oakton come the post-season.
