In this little, IAC world, HOW things are done does matter.

Based on decades of history, Bullis has never been seen as being quite up to snuff with the IAC schools on this side of the Potomac. The people that have sent their kids to Landon, STA, Prep and Sidwell (when it was an IAC member) never considered Bullis as an alternative.

They look at the current Bullis success and pay attention to how it is being done. The conclusion is, once again, Bullis is in the IAC, but as sort of a provisional member needed for scheduling purposes mostly.

It's not the 80's anymore. Many families now consider Bullis as well as Prep, STA, Sidwell, Landon. Bullis has 2 players that left Sidwell for Bullis. Rich/connected families don't have to wring their hands about the "reputation" of high schools.

Let's just say that those Bullis players who left Sidwell didn't do it for athletics.

Sure, in your dreams.

Yes, new money ... HS does not matter, nor does college.

Bullis is filled with new money.

They left because Bullis is a better academic fit for them than Sidwell. Is that clear enough?

Bullis is filled with new money.

New money is code for people who actually went out and earned their wealth.

Old money is code for people who inherited their wealth and feel threatened by "new money".....

Enough with mentioning specific kids on this thread. But let's be serious, people who leave those other schools for a place like Bullis do it because they've been "encouraged" to. Not making it up. And I don't believe the kids or parents who've made the switch and saying otherwise. Peace out. bitches.

Anecdotal evidence of one specific kid on an anonymous forum means nothing. Nobody goes to Bullis because of the academics. Nobody. Especially not from a school like Sidwell unless they've been "counseled out". Stop talking crazy. Bullis is a fallback school unless you play lacrosse.

Churchill is right around the corner, has a far better academic reputation and like all public schools; you don't pay for it.

Bullis is usually not considered by families whose children fit academically at STA or Sidwell or in the top half of Landon or Prep. It is a different tier academically, and the reputation is such. Not sure what the poster means that "Rich/connected families" are not concerned about academic reputation of their child's high school. The question is whether the school is a good fit for the kid, and whether the kid can grow and advance in the environment that the school provides. Bullis has done well by many kids, and I know many parents who felt it was an excellent choice or their child. But, it is not comparable with those four in terms of academics and the academic abilities of the entire student body across the board.

They left because Bullis is a better academic fit for them than Sidwell. Is that clear enough?

Churchill is also a far better academic school than either Landon or Prep.
Anonymous
Why do you keep assuming that people live in the Churchill cluster? Perhaps Churchill is not an option.

No. That isn’t even close to true.

There are plenty of intelligent kids to go around.

They don’t all desire 2 schools with terrible athletics.

You’re gonna be so bitter when charges are dropped.

Just like the Navy graduate.

no chance Bullis hires cilento back and I am a Bullis alum.

Bellistri is a good man, he served during the Iraq War, I could care less if he did cocaine or not.

He wasn’t fired.

His wife called the cops and they refused to charge.

She had to go to a commissioner and a judge to get charges.

The charges will be dropped.
