Other Jews were just as anti-black racist as non-Jewish white people. Read, for example, the wonderful memoir “The Color of Water,” written by a biracial man whose white Jewish mother was disowned by her Jewish family for marrying a black man.

The significant role of Jews in social justice movements is well established and the bigotry of one Jewish family doesn’t take away from that.

“Jews” are not a collective mass. Some helped - some were racist. No one wants collective guilt, but everyone wants collective kudos. I’m sick of everyone trying to steal the moral high ground of the African American struggle for civil rights in this country for a totally different context. The left does it and the right does it. The left says “oh the poor Palestinians are just like oppressed Blacks in America” — nope, no they are not. And then people like PP say “oh Jews fought for civil rights, so they are just fighting the righteous fight in Israel” — nope, non sequitur!

Not only that, but it’s irrelevant to the massacre of Jews by Hamas on October 7.

Yes, that’s part of what I said. The left was an analogizing the massacre to Nat Turner’s slave revolt that killed white women, children, etc. That’s totally ridiculous. The victims of chattel slavery in the US had zero recourse to political power or ANY legitimate avenue to resist. The Palestinians have many legitimate avenues, an entire UN agency dedicated to them, powerful wealthy government sending them aid, access to media to advocate, multiple opportunities in political negotiations to resolve the conflict, etc.

Yes, the leftists comparing 10/7 to Nat Turner’s revolt are deeply and profoundly offensive. It’s explicitly anti-Black language.

So, you’re saying that the Israeli genocide of Palestinians is on the same scale as those other atrocities?

I agree with you.

I disagree.

Assad butchered a lot more civilians (over 500,000) than the IDF did.
For that matter, Russia has killed far more Ukrainian civilians than the IDF did as well.

But the voices we hear pointing at the IDF won't talk about any of that - because they side with Russia and the other evil powers who do even worse deeds than the IDF.

You’re missing the point. You’re arguing that Israel is committing atrocities. They just haven’t killed as many innocent people as Assad — yet. So, we should look the other way while they achieve that milestone?

The milestone is total genocide.

BS. Journalists are not safe in Gaza.
And, the internet was cut off so terrorists won't have the means to communicate.

Neither are Palestinian children. But that seems like an acceptable trade?

This is the last time I’m going to ask: what do you think should happen? Should Hamas be allowed to continue to run Gaza?

Hard truth is that that is not for us to decide
Should what is going on now continue to happen?

You’re right, it was for Israel to decide after Hamas attacked them. They decided.

That is like saying it was for Japanese to decide after Pearl Harbor. Israel is to blame for all of this. Before Israel was created Jews and Palestinians lived in peace. Now it is Israel killing Palestinians and stealing land. Sickening.

No hun. It’s like saying it was for the US to decide after Pearl Harbor.

So I guess the US should have just tried talking to the Japanese or the Germans.

Israel is not the good guy. They have a long history of killing Palestinians because they think they are racially superior. You can not say Oct 7 is the start of this. This is what Israel has done since it was created- killing Palestinians and take their land.

Is Hamas the good guy? Does there need to be a good guy?

Hamas is not the Palestinian people. With all of you equating all Palestinians as Hamas, you may as say you are all January Sixers, you are all white supremacist and members supporters of the KKK because you’re white and American. Is the worst of your society a true representation of your personal beliefs.

Wrong analogy. The problem here is that there's been nobody in Gaza voicing or advancing viable alternatives to Hamas.

Clear message.

The only thing I take issue with is his statement that humanity remains haunted by the October 7 massacre. Much of humanity celebrated the slaughter and much of humanity — consumed by some deep, primeval hatred of Jews — does not care.

Trying to explain why this is so to a Jewish child is very difficult.

I’m sure you did a great and historically nuanced job explaining this to your DC. This seems likely.

Bot quick response.

You wish, trash for brains. I’m sure your mournful “we’ve got haters and know not why” speech was one for the ages. Maybe record the next one and post it here. Please?

Seems like I struck a nerve.

You’re an a-hole, but not a serious person. You’re pretty bad at the whole internet thing.

I disagreed with part of the IDF person’s statement. You offer nothing but frustration.

I don’t play the mind-reader games of Israeli supporters here. Please show where you indicated disagreement - see, it’s there! Oh wait….it’s invisible. It’s your insane self thinking that pockets of extremism meant the world at large was not shocked 10/7;
more pity for thee!

I could not possibly care less about some spoiled shit in the DMV explaining to her coddled nightmare child that people “hate” them for reasons divorced from reality. It’s just a joke to me from someone with your rotted morality. It’s just part of that damned burden you carry, shanda.

To be fair, a lot of people colonizing the Black experience in the US in this way are entitled white people with no connection to Palestine whatsoever except the keffiyeh they bought on Amazon a few days ago.

No, we should increase funding for Israel and institute a Never Again Part II memorial over Northern Gaza.

A few examples:
At the founding of Israel the Irgun, Haganah, the Stern gang. In another place, the IRA.

Like the ADOS students still standing for Palestine? I’m sure you’d do a good job telling them what they think.

They don’t fit the definition of terrorist, however aggressive they might have been.

Maybe because they’re being bombed daily and they don’t have access to water, food or medicine.

Tell me again how the children of Gaza should be brainstorming a way to get Hamas out of power.

Didn’t Hamas eliminate internal opposition? Why would anyone support this tyrannical regime at this point?

The genocide to prevent genocide.

OMG I can't believe I'm saying this, but....go John Kirby?

TV Globo’s @RKrahenbuhl: “So, besides saying that he doesn't have confidence in these numbers, the President went further to say that innocents will die and that this is the price of the war. You also said that.”

Kirby: “I have indeed.”

Krähenbühl: “Don't you think this is insensitive? There’s being very harsh criticism in about it. For example, the Council of American-Islamic Relations said it was deeply disturbed and call on the President to apologize. Would the President apologize?”

Kirby: “No.”

Krähenbühl: “And does he regret saying something like that?”

Kirby: “What’s harsh — what’s harsh is the way Hamas is using people as human shields. What’s harsh is taking a couple of hundred hostages and leaving families and anxious, waiting and worrying to figure out where their loved ones are. What's harsh, is dropping in on a music festival and slaughtering a bunch of young people just trying to enjoy an afternoon. I could go on and on. That's what's harsh. That is what's harsh and being honest about the fact that there have been civilian casualties and that there likely will be more is being honest, because that's what war is. It's brutal. It's ugly. It's messy. I've said that before. President also said that yesterday. Doesn't mean we have to like it. And it doesn't mean that we're dismissing anyone of those casualties each and every one is a tragedy in its own right...It would be helpful if Hamas would let [Gazans] leave....We know that there are thousands waiting to leave Gaza writ large and Hamas is preventing them from doing it. That is what is harsh.”

You have a very warped view of who is on the “side” of the Palestinians. I believe the Israeli response is non-defensible from a moral viewpoint. I certainly have no problem acknowledging that Russia has killed many many Ukrainians and that Putin is morally bankrupt.

This. And I don’t know literally anyone aligned with Assad nor Putin. It’s just crazy talk and lies - wash, rinse, repeat, forever- from Israel’s staunchest supporters. They lie like they breathe.

Well, Hamas is explicitly aligned with Putin. They just had a nice visit together.
