Yes, Team education. Boo, Team forced birth. |
It isn’t “free money”. People with student loans have jobs and pay taxes too!

Does absolutely zero to control costs.
First baby step towards total and permanent forgiveness. What's going to stop another set of whiners 4 years from now asking for their free handouts again? |

Honestly I feel depressed & hopeless about politics. I have no doubt the GOP is going to sweep the midterms, and do really crappy things in office to undermine our democracy.
And they’re going to do it because Democrats keep focusing on unpopular crappy legislation. I’ve always liked Biden but he is embracing policies that Americans overwhelmingly dislike. |
These are the pussy-hat wearing, BLM-signs-on-the-lawn liberals. As long as it does not cost them anything, they will revel in performative activism while condemning those who are less fortunate as ne're-do-wells. At least Republicans are openly contemptuous of the poors. |
Isn't it the case that with the pandemic and even before that that colleges have seen declining applications as young people have realized that school is too expensive and the ROI may not be there anymore? With the pandemic, wage growth, the strange state of the economy, and other changes, maybe this problem is taking care of itself. |

Also, why in the hell is he extending the moratorium?
PAY YOU BILLS you deadbeat losers. Absolutely zero reason to extend the moratorium on top of this while he tries to pump the unemployment numbers. Creating a gigantic generation of morons who’ll feel permanently entitled to everything and who’ll always cry to the govt to get what they want. This is sickening. Put a moratorium on mortgages while you are at it. |
This. No one has answered my above question…. What now?!? The rising costs of college, corresponding reduction of quality education is a trend that will only WORSEN if universities are not held accountable. Instead, we are subsidizing the trend! So, WHAT are we going to do about the problem of ever increasing university costs?!? If government pays (not a bad idea in theory), let’s make universities about education, not about pouring money into the pockets of worthless university admins who make sure students have lots of fun things to do instead of study and impose arbitrary bureaucratic processes into the educational experience. |
Lol What a fantasy! |
I’ve been saying that the giant endowments need to chip in. |
Right now we, my young adult DCs and DH plus friends, parents are dumbfounded. All want a check or tax credit per student for this freebie. And for those who went to grad school or do STEM and are over the income limit? And if in public service category and paid back the money? While a slug did not? One said - should ask for a pay cut to get the 10k! |
Another $2500 a year towards your college education? Where will it end?!?! |
Chip in???…….. we are taking money from taxpayers to pay largely for frivolities. anyway, there’s a reason no one graduates from Harvard undergrad with need based debt. The schools with big endowments can afford nice scholarships already. |
| ^also, “chipping in” doesn’t solve the greater problem at all. :/ universities need to change and go back to focusing on educating students as a top priority. The money making model is not working. |
The allowable limits should be $50,000 not $125,000. |
