In the same post, you accuse Vda of poaching but talk about NVA taking an entire team from Vda. Isn’t that poaching? I thought girls parents were bad. These boys parents are real idiots. |
Can’t both be true? |
| See earlier post: Relax.... |
| While on the topic of VDA, question about how they handle tryouts: Went to first session and no numbers were given out. DC says they were grouped with other kids from outside the partner clubs. Coaches asked DC their name at one point, along with a couple other kids, but apparently didn't ask others in that group. At the end, coaches told the kids they can come back for the next session if they don't get an email saying this isn't the right fit. Got an email this morning reminding us about the second session. Is everyone who registered getting that email, or just a subset who they want to see back again? Trying to figure out if it's worth going or not. |
99% of the time that scenario leads to no offer. If teams want you they definitely will talk to the player and parent after the first ID session. |
| Mind games are VDA’s super power. |
Why keep stringing kids along through multiple ID sessions? Are they really still trying to figure out who will fill the last couple of spots? Like what is the purpose of not offering kids but not cutting them either? I am asking in general, not just VDA specifically. |
| Girls are leaving FVU left and right, sinking ship! |
What year? |
I believe clubs have gotten slammed by parents and league officials for not holding ID sessions and giving all kids a chance. So now they need to have multiple sessions and have enough kids there that it is “meaningful”. |
The decisions are already made and the ID sessions are essentially PR. Like a company listing a job opening knowing full well who they are about to hire already. |
SYCs have been meaningful. So meaningful that outside players aren’t really showing up. |
Multiple years... 09's, some 10's already left probably more to come, 11's, and some 12's |
SYC is a classic rec club that has talented soccer rich culture surrounding it that has in turn created a reputable soccer program for thos only interested in Rec and boys who want to push themselves to become proffesionals. Its a notable achievement for a youth organization who's objective is to encourage kids to play and be active. SYC is failing in converting that Rec program into evidence based developmental model that NoVA parents demand especially on the girls side. Boys have a track to profesionalism with academies and SYC has done a better job than any with this, but not for the college going boys. For the girls its a developmental club. Knowledeable coaches and proximity are key, but at 12/13 girls leave because they have proven nothing of quality for next steps for the ladies |
wait until md has their tryouts/ids Expect more |
