Why keep stringing kids along through multiple ID sessions? Are they really still trying to figure out who will fill the last couple of spots? Like what is the purpose of not offering kids but not cutting them either? I am asking in general, not just VDA specifically.

I believe clubs have gotten slammed by parents and league officials for not holding ID sessions and giving all kids a chance. So now they need to have multiple sessions and have enough kids there that it is “meaningful”.

The decisions are already made and the ID sessions are essentially PR. Like a company listing a job opening knowing full well who they are about to hire already.

Is this equally true at U13 as it is for older age groups with already established teams?

I think it is more true as you get older. There are still a few diamonds in the rough at U13 but by U15 you have either made the jump or are so far behind you can’t catch up.

SYCs have been meaningful. So meaningful that outside players aren’t really showing up.

Have you been incarcerated or on a court order to have no internet? Crazy anti-SYC parent who brings up the club in EVERY thread has returned.

No reason to think that's where they're going, but I think players are allowed to go to ID sessions and sign with other teams if they're not happy where they are. Free to choose. Try putting forward a product people want to choose. That starts with coaching.

I would say all true except for the 10's. I personally know of some 09's and 12's leaving. I can't imagine some 11's wouldn't leave too.
