LOL. No. There is nothing racist about expecting someone to follow the rules.

Right, he probably could have gotten away with it had he not made the dramatic changes at such scale and in such a short amount of time. There is no correlation between being a successful football coach and having an above average IQ. But, football coaches are more prone to making poor judgments and operating in the ethical gray zone because they are focused on winning and outcomes, and the ones with lower IQs are more susceptible to finding themselves in the situation Overton is currently in.

With so many investigations at Freedom clearing coach, likely believed anything did at Freedom would be ok at Hayfield. Otherwise, agree wouldn’t put up a big neon blinking sign if don’t want to be noticed. Reason think will be a lot of “we didn’t know,” “didn’t mean,” “others doing.”

A lot more flies in PWC than in Fairfax. First off, the coaches at the super schools get away with a lot more recruiting because the high school programs have open enrollment (unlike Fairfax).

More flies if your a white coach.

So the race-baiter claims, again, where's the proof?

They never have proof.

Not saying Overton didn’t break the rules. I need more information to determine if he did. However, I do know some white coaches that are doing the things Overton is accused of and we aren’t hearing any public complaints.

You have been saying that for a month but never actually offer up proof of another coach, who happens to be white, who recruited 20+ players in one season to his team.

Who knows 20 players on any team they aren’t affiliated with?

I have a kid that’s a pretty good football player and he’s friends with most of better players in the DMV area. I won’t name any schools where kids who shouldn’t be eligible are playing for a particular school, but it is happening at other schools with football as well as some other sports.

Most of the local football teams doing it aren’t crushing the opposition as bad as Hayfield, but all but one that are in the conversation for a state championship this year happen to have white coaches.

I wish all of them well and hope a Northern Virginia brings home a title in each division.

It’s possible the VHSL and superintendents seek to make an example out of Hayfield, because the scandal has made national news.

Regarding superstar athletes moving to the best programs, it reflects larger cultural changes like in the NCAA. 20 or 30 years ago, even the best high school teams weren’t blowing out other schools by nearly a hundred points (like Maury).

The other schools like Maury will likely get away with it unscathed for now and win their state championships. But next year I expect VHSL football programs to be extra vigilant. Basketball teams may already be taking extra precautions for the upcoming season.

Or maybe some schools will leave the VHSL and form a rival league. Not sure if state law allows for that.

Punishing egregious violators has a well-known deterrent effect. This has been understood in criminal law for generations.

Reckless speeding for example. Or punishing Egregious cheating on taxes as a warning to those who are cutting the same corners that everyone does.

Maybe someone at the VHSL went to the 7-11 in Woodbridge where the “transfers” are picked up by van each morning for transporting to Hayfield. This is akin to a commuter bus.

The problem here is that Overton was alleged to have been shady at Freedom HS in Woodbridge. He supposedly got out ahead of the posse in Prince William County.

Jock sniffing principal and AD at Hayfield come calling desperate to make a name hire to raise their football program to the same level as their suspect basketball program.

In response to the allegations, FCPS runs something generously called an investigation which found nothing. But they never interviewed several of the whistleblowers who claimed to gave the goods on Hayfield. Superintendent Reid blows them off at the parent meeting where they release the results of the investigation.

It is easy to believe that those whistleblowers called the VHSL when they were BS’d by FCPS.

Yea I’ve heard things about the school principal and the DSA and it basically being a good old boys type of feel at hayfield right now.

Like someone else said, vhsl is going hard at them because of the score run-ups, the previous accusations at freedom, the riverdale game (Va v Md school is always gonna get press), and then the whole mess making the national news

For vhsl this is an easy call. You know it’s happening other places but you have enough evidence to go smu death penalty level here and keep any other school in the state from playing loose with the rules for a solid decade or so in any sport.

It’s more white supremacists in Fairfax. They are definitely going to put a stop to Overton and his programs dominance. He had nerve to put up basketball numbers against some historically white supremacist schools like Falls Church, Annandale, West Springfield, and Chantilly.

He wasn’t getting away with that in Fairfax County. Not a chance. They definitely complained to VHSL, their congressman, and whoever would listen. And VHSL was sure to make a move right before the election. What a coincidence.

Overton should sue for racial discrimination if what you say is true. He won’t, though, because it isn’t.

With no forfeiture of games involved, VHSL is likely taking action against recruiting violations. This put Hayfield and their backers in a difficult position, having to marshal evidence with little time to prepare. The two year penalty is significant. Kids won’t come to play next year with no playoff opportunities.

Annandale is possibly the most diverse high school in the whole DMV, and with the smallest white population too. It also won numerous state football titles in the 1990s with the state’s most culturally diverse squad in history. FCPS did a VHS video all about that multiculturally diverse team. It’s probably still online someplace.

Historically, yes, Annandale and Falls Church existed during the era of segregation, but that was over 75 years ago. The whole “Remember the Titan” story where TC William defeated the Marshall Statemen (portrayed as racist in the movie) was over 55 years ago.

What is the relevance of IQ? One thing that appears not to be in dispute is that Overton is a good coach. His teams are disciplined.

So you want him to go to a white supremacist run court and and file suit against the white supremacists complaining they discriminated against him? Do you think Overton would be spending his time wisely if he were to do that?
