PPD?

JFC lawyers, way to make pregnancy and loss of pregnancy into some mind-altering mental illness-causing thing. Set women’s rights back by 100 years why don’t you?

But, I'm still puzzling over the parent at the school who claimed anyone else would have been treated differently. i'm wondering if there is a family connection politically.

Was that comment about race? My experience as a white teacher is that admin is reluctant to go hard on boys of color because those statistics are disparaging for schools.

I’ve posted this before but I don’t see how race wasn’t a major factor. The majority of the student and parent population and what looks like 95% of the administration from the school itself on up is black, the teacher is white, and because it’s important, some people in the name of refusing to stigmatize wouldn’t characterize this monster as “badness” - his actual family nickname! In a family where these ahole parents were at the school daily which is preferential treatment out the ass! - but went along with the lie that his “IEP” was getting to have family with him. Virtually all kids in K and 1 would LOVE to have family visit them frequently at school. None of it was fair to anyone but those bastards. They should all be under the jail, kid included.

You could be correct, but I don't think so. I think the family must have connections--there is some reason this was "close hold" in the news. FWIW, Newport News is heavily minority as a whole.

Multiple generations of teenage parenthood--usually those aren't influential, connected families.

DP. I doubt the family has connections, but I'm sure the school administrators and superintendent do. They know they made a bunch of very serious mistakes and ignored multiple teacher concerns about this student that were put in writing and are hoping people will move on to the next story and stop scrutinizing them so they can slink off somewhere and still collect a pension. This is happening all over the country, by the way. Every single school system knows the same thing could happen to them because they've rolled over to a bunch of ridiculous parent demands and ignored warnings from teachers about certain students. They're taking a calculated risk that things won't escalate badly enough to get national media attention and in most cases, they're correct.

That doesn't mean they are not connected. Could be relatives, politics, gangs,---all sorts of things. It's almost racist to think they cannot be connected because they are African American.
They could also be connected to school administration.

We don't know. But, don't think that other Black children were not abused by this kid, too.

PP you quoted here

Who said that? I certainly didn't. I said that well connected, influential families usually don't have multiple generations of teen parents. Nothing about race. It actually IS very ignorant and presumptuous of YOU to jump to the (erroneous) conclusion that race has anything to do with my comment.

Amazing how this was all over the news for weeks, but no news media has done a serious story on what made this child so troubled.

Columbine, Parkland, etc. all had in depth stories on the shooters, but, here--crickets.

In this case, though, it is not about the child, the story should be about the home and its environment.

yeah, how dare she expect some sort of compensation for getting SHOT BY A STUDENT AT WORK. The school system wants her to take workers comp and forget it ever happened. A BIG lawsuit with BIG numbers is the only thing that will get their attention.

But yeah, I wonder why teachers are quitting?
