Teacher shot at Newport News elementary school

If the kid got the gun from the parent, they need to charge the parent. My god... this country.

“Police said during the press conference that the shooting was not accidental and that they are working to learn how the student got a firearm and why the shooting occurred.”

Jesus.

+1. I’m hopeful the parents didn’t actually provide the gun to the child but if the parent(s) left the gun where the kid could access it then the level of irresponsibility is astounding. There are far too many irresponsible gun owners. Even the ones that know the rules and claim to be responsible are guilty at times. I recently witnessed someone showing off one of their guns to someone. They unloaded it and told me to look through the scope because they were touting it as super high quality. I didn’t touch the thing, they just held it up by my face and told me to look through it but by holding it up to my face, they were pointed it right at someone sitting on the couch! I objected and told them not to point the gun at people and their response was, “It’s not loaded.” WHICH DOESN’T MATTER. The rule is that you don’t point a gun at people period, even if it’s not loaded.

Jesus.

As an early elementary teacher this wouldn’t shock me. I’ve seen very young children full of rage that goes way beyond developmentally appropriate frustration.

and these kids are in normal classes, disturbing the other kids. My god, if this kid shot the teacher on purpose can you imagine how the kid might've treated the defenseless kids?

It has been reported that the child was 6.

In any case, this is a horrible story.

No, but it means he didn’t just bring a gun from home to show his friends and accidentally discharged it. He brought a gun to school to shoot it.
