“In a statement Tuesday, Capitol Police Chief Tom Manger said that while there have been improvements — for instance, the department is on track to hire 280 additional officers this year — the country’s “political climate” is going to necessitate “additional layers of physical security.”

So if Trump and Republicans don’t intend to harm anyone then why do we need additional physical layers of security to protect Pelosi?

Why would the police ask if everything was ok when they saw Pelosi struggling with a man, both who had hands on a hammer? They know who Pelosi is. That delay in engagement and distraction appears to be what allowed DePape to get the upper hand and hit Pelosi. There needs to be some investigation into the city's policies and what the police are told they should and should not do.
