Well, I mean with DC United moving next door this was kinda predictable.

Other factors, with DA phasing out the younger ages and Loudoun not being a full DA there really was no reason to stay in.

You mean Loudoun United, the minor league team, right?

Wow, so NOVA will have 3 teams (McLean, BRYC, Loudoun) driving to south beaten by SC, NC teams.

No, as in DC United's DA, who will practice at the Loudoun United's (owned by DC United) fields.

Agree it was sort of inevitable for Loudoun to leave the DA given DCU's move, but moving to ECNL will still be very disappointing for a lot of the families of boys currently there. Anyone who can will be pushing hard for a DA spot at DCU Arlington or VDA now. Not sure what options there will be for those who can't make one of those teams.

ECNL really makes no sense for the boys.

Anyone know when DCU Academy will move to the new location? I'd be pissed if I were a Loudoun DA player.

I've spoken to people at DCU and never gotten a straight answer. Seems there is some debate / awaiting facilities still going on. I've heard:

Next year.
2020
Only the U16s will move to Loudon, the U15s and below will stay in DC.
Some teams may split training between Loudon and DC.

Yeah, all over the map. Until I see it on the DCU website I'm just going to wait on that one.

Wonder whether US soccer will move to have a new DA program in the city or Eastern suburbs to catch the kids in those areas.

I have been reading MLS is looking to drop DA. Is that still a thing?

Yes. Two competing missions:

MLS: develop players to sign on homegrown contracts
Non MLS clubs: some combination of win games and develop players (depending on the club, it may be one or the other or both)

MLS wants its own program. If they do something themselves, the Boys DA will crumble under the difficult standards they force all clubs to follow

I see the Boys DA crashing within a year.

Looks like the MLS teams will have the only official academies, and other programs will become affiliates, like DC United is doing with their path to pro program.

Can someone explain what the advantage of switching from Boys DA to ECNL? I'm only seeing negatives.
