Loudoun Boys dropping DA for ECNL

Anonymous
Loundoun decision, as McLean 's last year, may simply reflect the fact that they were are not given the older age groups. Will be interesting to see what the DA looks like next year when they announced the club changes, probably in a few days. Will they still increase the number of clubs or rather slim it down to try to address the MLS teams' concerns.

I guess it is a positive if you like to drive a lot because you will spend a lot of time on the road driving to North Carolina.

It will be a total of 3 trips to the Carolina's over the course of the combined Fall and Spring seasons.

ECNL is a North and South Carolina league. 3 trips? Then there must only be 3 games in the season.

DA is PA, NJ, NY. Is it really that big a difference?

Yes, PA and NJ are up and back trips compared to NC and SC. The DA season only requires one bus/weekend trip.

:

For league play
The Virginia teams travel to South Carolina once a year. They play one SC team on Saturday and the other SC team on Sunday. The next time they play, the South Carolina teams travel to Northern Virginia.
The same goes when they play the North Carolina teams. = 3 trips over the course of the combined Fall and Spring seasons.

It may not be for you or your family, but at least try to be more informed before posting.

There is, also, other travel for tournaments.

Both options sound f&cking miserable.

They should all go back to no excessive travel for regular season. Any trips out of state should be only tournament play like the good old days. Sitting in the car for hours instead of playing.

Soccer has gotten f@cking ridiculous. School is much more important in the lives of all these kids that won’t see a day past 18-22 years old of soccer play.

Then put your kid in a program where the travel suits your desired lifestyle.

We left DC at 9:30 for a drive up to Philly for a game. We arrived a bit after 12:00 but then had another 20-30 minutes to get out to the field in the suburbs through some traffic. Arrived about 12:30 (we were supposed to be there at 1:00) and the game didn't start until 2:00. Finished and off the field (warm down, chat, goofing off) by about 4:00. Returned home to DC about 7:00 after some drive thru.

As I parked the car I turned to my son and said "was that fun"? He just scoffed and got out (eventhough we won 3-0).

I have no dog in this hunt, as my kids are late teens now. But I saw so many kids (or more accurately parents) jumping from team to team every year and those kids never seemed that happy. The happiest ones were the ones who stuck together for 4,5,6 years. They were a solid team and had a blast. Are they pros? No. Are they getting big scholarships? No. News flash: your kid isn’t either.

If they are in a good situation and having fun, let them play and have fun.

+1. It is driven my parents who think there is this huge pot of athletic scholarship money out there. That isn’t the case. All but the top top teams are giving very partial scholarships. There is so much more money out there for academic scholarships.

Well you sound like a totally rational, not unhinged at all soccer parent. Do what your kids want. And I am guessing 12-hour days that involve six hours of driving for one game is not it.
