I guess it is a positive if you like to drive a lot because you will spend a lot of time on the road driving to North Carolina.

It will be a total of 3 trips to the Carolina's over the course of the combined Fall and Spring seasons.

DA is ending its u12 age group, so clubs like Loudoun would only have DA teams u13-u15. Then those kids come back to playing CCL or EDP (which is a mess).

There are several clubs like that (McLean only had u12). Not sure why clubs would do that - the short term benefits if they exist for those players and teams doesn’t justify the costs and hassle. Surprised more partial DA clubs haven’t done the same.

Loudon has very regional specific reasons (i.e. DCU coming to the neighborhood) but I suspect there will be much more of a shakeup in the DA over the next couple years, including rumors of:

1) No more U13 DA program starting in 2020.

2) An MLS split or some sort of split between the DA of upper and lower divisions which would be a heavy travel vs local travel type setup.

With no more U13 in 2020, it makes zero sense for somebody to switch Clubs next season for U12 (08/09) pre-DA. We considered it, but considered it but are going to stay put. Why are Clubs having U12 pre-Da with no U13 the following year?

Why be in the DA without the older age group teams?

The premise from US Soccer’s standpoint was to cast a wide net at the younger ages, limit travel for them and then filter to just a couple of local DA’s as they get older to provide strong competition.

DA is a bust and will implode if MLS teams leave. Loudoun is trying to secure a long term plan with ECNL, they know DA is at their end of days.

I see DA as just another one of those fleeting things. The next big thing will be arriving soon and DA will be obsolete.

I don't know. If I had an '08 I wouldn't do it. Training groups too large and you are also training with younger kids. If you are somewhere that has your kid training/playing up currently. It makes zero sense to leave for a pre-DA where you aren't playing 100% of every game and you aren't training and being challenged with older kids when needed. That is why we aren't moving.

The future of U13 DA is unsettled. There are rumors it may end like the U12s this year, but they are only rumors.

Thanks. It doesn’t change our plans for forgoing pre-DA U12 next year for the reasons I stated. It’s not in best interest for kid’s development at this point. I’m not a “pipeline” parent, the ones that base every decision on being in the pipeline regardless of it isn’t in developmental interests. Yes, maybe spots become limited, but I’ve seen so many players in the system stagnate. Granted, they are DA, but what are you in it for? The kid’s individual interest will always trump for me. Plus, player-coach ratio. But, playing an entire game most of the time and being challenged upward are a biggie.

This post reminds me of Braveheart saying “Hold, hold, HOLD”. U13 is just a rumor right now. If you live kind of far from Loudoun fields it may make sense. Practice with top kids from many clubs instead of just Loudoun, play against other pre DA teams instead of Roanoke and other CCL teams. If you live in leesburg or west I don’t see you switching.

It is in reference moving to VDA or Arlington as well at U12. Zero sense for pps reasons.
